2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forum2016 - The Year We Elect the First Socialist President. Welcome to it!
I think electing a Socialist is easily as historic and unique as electing a Woman.
Make no mistake - I'm all about electing a Female President; Hillary Clinton just ain't the right female.
Happy 2016 Everyone!

(8,159 posts)We need another FDR and Bernie is who we need in office now.
Then we've got to give him a congress that will work with him.
God help this country if trump wins.

But we certainly need Bernie and why do we not revel in electing the first Jewish president? Is this not the first time we would be electing someone not claiming to be strong Christians. Is not stating the possible election of a Jew not indicative of social acceptance and reduction of discrimination?
Why is this not a rallying cry for liberals to indicate acceptance of other religions and ethnic backgrounds? Hillary's elect me, I am a woman theme has attracted all those women supporters and is often cited during canvasses as the single reason women support her.
I would increase your words slightly by saying
I think electing a socialist and a Jew is certainly more historic and unique than electing a woman.
Make no mistake- I'm all about electing a Female President: Hillary Clinton just ain't the right female.
I will never vote for or against someone based on gender, race, age, ethnicity, ancestry, or sexual orientation. I will vote against those who embrace religions encouraging others to do so.
You made very good and concise points. Thank you!
