A "Let's get this started" hat tip to all on GDP

Coming into the homestretch for Iowa and all of the dreams that will produce, I wanted to take a minute to just acknowledge this wider forum community and solve of the real positives that have come out of it. And now is the right tone to do it, because I have a feeling we all, myself included, are going to be shoring up support for our candidate and trying to poke holes in the support of others. Just one of the many dynamics here in GDP.

I know I'm not some saint and that I frequently get snaky, annoyed, etc at many of the things that happen here. However, I want to say that I have also gained a tremendous amount of respect for posters that have never been on my radar before this primary--including many supporting other candidates. We tussle, we have threads that break down completely, but there has never been any secret that is what GDP is for (Moving us to an arena where we can't harm the innocents in the other areas of DU.).

So to all who choose to participate and get bloodied in the primary season, to all who have walked away before finding yourself drawn back, to all of you who, like me, enjoy getting into the scrum, I tip my hat to you. The real election season is about to start. Everything to now has been prologue, so good luck as the rhetoric really heats up. Just know I think we're all a bunch of crazy people to do this voluntarily, but it is, honestly, the most fun I've had on DU in years.

Let's do this.
