Related: About this forumThe Media Blackout Continues....
Oh,wait.....Sanders made his regular appearance yesterday on a Sunday AM talk show and
tomorrow (Tues.) will be on Bloomberg's "With all Due Respect" (which eventually be partnering/aired with MSNBC)
Yes, the blackout is just so OBVIOUS....

(2,227 posts)Just like the Bernie blackout in the media, it wont matter at all IMO

LOL! Screw it!

(9,494 posts)that was before I began to actually hate Bernie Sanders! Now I find his demonizing of the Middle Class and their evil retirement portfolios and not paying enough taxes to be noxious and naïve.

(8,352 posts)that make a quarter of a million dollar are middle class!
Walk away
(9,494 posts)Here in Bergen County NJ (where the Middle Class supports half of the state) a ten year police officer making $150,000 a year, who is married to a tenured high school math teacher who makes $100,000, are middle class.
This is, apparently, impossible for Bernie Sanders and his supporters to understand. It is completely beyond them. They insist that we pony up the money to send their kids to college for free while we save for twenty years to be able to send our kids to the best school they can get into and we can afford.
I get that Bernie is a Socialist and that his supporters are all in with it (even though they keep calling it something else) but most of the Democratic party are not interested in raising the taxes of the people who are already paying for EVERYTHING!

(47,803 posts)The message now is that Clinton is already the nominee. Bernie's just a little bump in the road that occasionally gets mentioned.
Sure they'll give him the obligatory few minutes on TV -- and he, unlike Clinton, makes himself available for unscripted appearances. But that's small potatoes compared to the overwhelming Trump/Clinton deluge.
Gloria
(17,663 posts)That's the way it works and has worked in the past. Nothing so special about Bernie's poll position at the moment....

(6,913 posts)He went through the same litany of numbers for 3 to five minutes. Why? Why not a different openning?
Then he moved on to 3 or so minutes on his "opponent," Hillary.
I really do think that President Obama better articulates the cause and advocacy of the middle class. That's why he's where he is. He knows he can't do it alone.

Now, I bowl in league tonight so won't be around to see what the TV news covers so I'll leave it to you good people to tell me how far off the online versions are from the evening network news versions will be.
Sound good?

(3,649 posts)In fact, he has to go out of his way for them because it's the only way he gets any air time on national TV. Those studies showing how much airtime each candidate gets (you know, the one where Bernie got 20 seconds compared to Trump's 80 minutes) do not lie.
Gloria
(17,663 posts)tape....
His standing nationally puts him lower on the totem poll...same for O'Malley....they've been seen and listened to....
And Trump takes over everything, including MSNBC.....Bernie gets plenty of time there...Clinton doesn't get as much time....whereas I'm sure she gets constant "attention" on FOX....
So, the whining is just that....it is not based on the reality of the race itself...just harping on the media is not the reason for his supposed blackout...they haven't vetted him, the message about him is usually neutral. Be thankful for that....
He's on the Sunday show every week it seems and they get reported on....that's better than most.
You have to look at the media as "segments" not as a whole monolithic edifice. Online vs. TV, cable vs broadcast.
That is REALITY. So stop the crybaby stuff and look at things objectively... I'm not directing this at you personally but all the people out there crying all the time...stop and think a little....
HerbChestnut
(3,649 posts)But to say that Bernie's standing nationally means he deserves less air time is ridiculous. He's in the low to mid 30s nationally, which is nothing to sneeze at. Plus, he's actually talking about *issues* that affect our society. The media is happy to report on anything that gives them ratings, but apparently that does not include a viable candidate who wants to make this country a better place.
Gloria
(17,663 posts)"getting everybody together" to make changes is actually rather ....well...not pragmatic and rather unrealistic....
I tune him out now...I didn't in the beginning. He offers nothing workable...

HerbChestnut
(3,649 posts)The majority of American people support a progressive agenda and yet we can't get progressive policies enacted through government? How ridiculous is that? And now we have people supporting a candidate because she's "pragmatic" and can "get things done" when in fact she has the least progressive platform of all the candidates. It makes no sense.
Walk away
(9,494 posts)he is, at least, getting somewhere. I doubt it will ever happen.
I had to laugh the other day when Sanders called Trump out over The Donald's attack on the Clintons. Bernie's failed attempt to get some attention and maybe raise a few dollars (hey it worked with the emails!). But Trump acts as if the only use he will ever have for Bernie is that of a pot hole on Hillary's road to the nomination.
floriduck
(2,262 posts)getting different answers from your candidate depending on which way the wind blows. You'd never want to replay Hill's tapes because you'll always hear something new or different. God forbid a candidate actually maintains his beliefs.
Gloria
(17,663 posts)Seriously, I'm sure he gets more invites than O'Malley, who actually has served as a Democrat...
And you don't hear about all the lower tier Republicans, either...
HerbChestnut
(3,649 posts)I'm sure he gets just as many invites as many of the bottom tier Republican candidates. How many interview invitations do you think Clinton receives? Of course, she doesn't actually have to do them when the media covers her campaign 24/7.

Yawn....now am going to listen to some real world business discussion on a podcast with a savvy investment group...NOT ON THE TEE VEE....not wasting my time with this repetitive, nonsense that is like Groundhogs day every 2 or 4 years...

(17,663 posts)I've had some wins and losses, not a pro, but want to learn and understand because I may need the tools to help myself earn some income...and EVERY YEAR, my tradition is to sit down during the last week of the year and donate to a number of causes, local and national, not to mention food and spot donatations I do all during the year.
It's pretty sad to see how the judging and feelings of superiority get posted with no knowkedge of other people at all.
If I were a Sanders supporter, I suppose I would alert due to feeling "hurt".....but it's pointless. I feel sad for this sort of blind 'certitude'...

(15,435 posts)Not much more to say. You sound very smug and happy as you make the comments you make. There is no reason to quibble with you, but many, many people are very SAD about how this country has been bought and sold by Wall Street Corporatists & the MSM who hold the cards and make decisions to keep people uninformed and in the DARK!
