http://www.politicususa.com/2016/01/04/bill-clinton-elegantly-massacres-donald-trumps-credibility-presidential-candidate.htmlWhile campaigning for his wife in New Hampshire, former president Clinton never mentioned Trump by name, but he didnt have to. With one simple slice, Clinton went after Trumps credibility as a presidential candidate.
Clinton said, Every presidential election, people run. And believe it or not, its kind of scary this year, but believe it or not, most everybody actually tries to do what they say theyre gonna do when theyre running. They are telling you what they believe. And, so you gotta take em seriously, but you also have to take seriously whether they have any chance of doing what they say theyre gonna do or any record of doing it.
The strategy is simple and beautiful. Instead of mocking Donald Trump, Bill Clinton is warning America to take him seriously because the Republican frontrunner is saying what he really believes. The warning that Trump will try to do everything that he is campaigning on such as building a wall on the US southern border and banning Muslims from entering the country highlights Trumps extremism.
The second part of Bill Clintons statement that voters also have to examine whether or not Trump has any chance of doing what he wants to do was a logical deconstruction of Trumps credibility as a candidate. What Clinton was suggesting is that Donald Trump should be taken seriously, but he has no chance of accomplishing the things that he claims he wants to do if he gets elected.

(16,286 posts)to guarantee a teaparty person NOT in the WH includes that Bill cant embarrass Don, because Don has a fragile ego since he is such an asshole.
Make no mistake, this is all a plan they hatched way back when.
Has to be, otherwise

(16,286 posts)Think about their relationship and that Donald is not stupid.
Plus we all know he physically and mentally could not and would not do the job of president for more than 3 days before he would delegate it all to someone else.
Dont get me wrong, I want Bernie or Hillary and if this is how it has to happen, so be it.
But it kind of reminds me of "Trading Places"
the Eddie Murphy movie, in that these two rich guys are going to manipulate everybody and they probably have a side bet on it

(16,950 posts)Trump cannot be part of a conspiracy or "plan" hatched by Bill Clinton as you were proposing.

(16,950 posts)in some hatched up conspiracy??!??! That's quite a "hatched" idea, but it didn't come from Bill.
LMAO!
Actually, some of these conspiracies are downright scary. Putting all common sense aside just isn't enough for some of these......

(16,286 posts)Trump is putting on a show, he is saying what he knows the cons will love so he can get popular
He will then either get the nomination and certainly lose or will run as 3rd party, in both cases assuring Hillary the WH
It is a brilliant plan, I talked about it MONTHS before any of the pundits did, but it is now a popular conversation with people like Rachel and Lawrence and others.

(16,950 posts)that's what is propping him up. He was a Birther before and they loved that too. Only his poll numbers didn't hold up . Just saw something today that 60-something percent of the GOP still think Obama is a Muslim or wasn't born here.
Thats hilarious but scary to make the leap that Bill "hatched" this all up.

(16,286 posts)Donald has no desire at all to be prez, he isnt capable of doing the job for 3 days without delegating it all out.
Contrary to what people think, the guy doesnt work, he delegates using money he made by using thugs to force people out of their homes.
But, he does love having billions of dollars in a system that is skewed to reward horrible people like him, and he doesnt want the teaparty fucking it up.
Don knows as you and I and Bill knows that the teaparty are actual morons and if they got control of the WH the entire system would go to hell.
So his plan is to either get the nomination then lose or go 3rd party, I think when they hatched it they had no idea he would do this well and get this close to the nomination.
My theory is based on just how crazy Trump is acting. AGain, yes he is a horrid puke fuck of a human being, but I dont think he really cares about keeping Muslims or Latino's out of the country, he is using that to appeal to the haters.
I could be wrong, of course, but months after I talked about it Rachel and Lawrence and others talked about it, so at least i was first.

(16,399 posts).....is that Clinton figured out Trump would get a good chunk of the Republican base, maybe enough to win the nomination if the GOP just let it happen and not try to broker the convention, but nowhere close to winning a general election making him a sitting duck for Hillary.
R B Garr
(16,950 posts)same time. .At least you admit it's ANOTHER Clinton conspiracy!
And it was obvious what he was "trying" to say, but no one could predict or control the polls especially in that wide field. This is just a lame excuse for gratuitous Clinton bashing.

(16,399 posts)So stow the snark towards me.
But, I don't think Bill Clinton did anything to dissuade Trump if he asked him for advice on running for President, if you believe the stories when they said there was a phone conversation about it. And why would he? I think this is gonna work out just fine.

Sounds like an endorsement of Martin O'Malley.

(30,481 posts)He has a record of seeing a problem and doing something. Often taking on multiple large items at one time. Not always successful, most always working toward a more just and progressive system.
It also leaves him open for scrutiny, as has been seen here on DU. I find that progressives like O'Malley, who spends his time truly trying to change society for the better, are often canibilized by the very people who claim to be the left of the party.
