2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI was worried about Sanders' speech....But now I'm Feeling the Bern about it
I frankly worried that he might just use his standard stump speech.
But I was wrong. While he used that as the skeleton, he fleshed it out by making the case for fundamental reform in detail and overview and specifics about solutions.
I'm feeling the Bern. If only the media would give him a quarter iof the time they give to Trump and Clinton.

(22,911 posts)Specific proposals and fleshed out arguments for change with graphic illustrations of the problems the status quo has saddled us with. This is the makings of a next generation stump speech that the Clinton camp can not convincingly mimic in order to blur the differences between her and Bernie. This sets Bernie apart from anyone who has sought the Democratic nomination for President in decades.

(34,095 posts)was just starting to look for it here. We live in the boonies where Internet is not apparently thought of as a lucrative sell. Bernie TV is a PITA out here. Every once in a while we can watch it but not usually. So see ya later...looking for the video.

(47,803 posts)If you can get sufficient bars, you could set up your own Internet "hot spot" with a cell phone.
MuseRider
(34,095 posts)hot spots but I just had used it to download a bunch of updates and a program so we are already close to maxed out for the month already. We had a Verizon Internet contraption (I know, I am just so out of it) and it was supposed to provide us with a very fast connection with a fair sized package of data. They put it in and at 3AM something used up all the data so we could not use it. Happened the next month so we quit it.
I wish I actually understood this better but I will say the hot spot works very well if we could just afford enough data. My speed here was 0.18 Mbps download most of the afternoon from the only wireless provider in the area and we are paying for 7 down. It has been like this for the last 7 years, as long as we have lived out here. It is the best we can get, everyone out here has tried other things but they never work or work like the Verizon provider did.
The great news is I finally got it all to buffer and we watched it with only a few hiccups. It was wonderful. Simply wonderful. I wonder if I could write to him about getting Internet to all the people? It might be a very good thing since so many of us, even as close as we are to town, cannot use it easily or afford the other options. I think his hands are full right now so I will wait until he is elected. Brownbackistan will be the last place to opt for providing for the people.
Thank you though. I am just not very smart about all of this. My husband just goes from one thing to the other and we spent money like mad and nothing really worked. We can count on this to have decent speeds very early and in the late morning then...not so much.

(1,024 posts)to tend with the better. And make sure their auto-updates are always set to off if applicable. They do like consorting on-line when you are not watching so kill them when they are not in use and go to 'manage apps' to kill off their nefarious behaviour.
Also, being where you are, start a petition to have municiple internet installed (or nearest town center from you) like chatanooga is now striving to cling hold of. We should all do that actually

The corporate media; is intent on shaping the peoples' perceptions vs enlightening them because of their inherent conflicts of interest.
I viewed CNN earlier "not for too long," they mentioned Hillary, Trump, Jeb Bush, Cruz, Rubio, Christie, Fiorina, they even squeezed Paul in there but I saw no coverage of Bernie's speech, perhaps I just missed it?
I will check them out again later this evening.
Thanks for the thread, Armstead.

(9,214 posts)save them from the slow suicide they are committing. With their manipulation of the news to further a narrow agenda they are slowly but steadily making themselves irrelevant to their audience.
More and more of the audience realize the bias and just don't waste their time watching, or reading, them anymore.
Breaking them up could actually allow a few to start reporting real news instead of propaganda and fluff stories.

(598 posts)I was expecting it to be a good speech. It was so much better than I was expecting.
He covered many topics.
One part, Bill Clinton's Glass-Steagall reform DID help devastate the economy. I'm glad Bernie brought that up.
My own local "commercial bank", I had discovered, received bailout money. They were gambling their depositor's money on tricky Wall Street investments. And yet, Bill Clinton, Hillary and other Wall Streeters claim it would not have made a difference. Nonsense. Bernie is right.
