.. although, in this case it might not have hurt to point out that rational people who are stuck with dealing with the real world know that invading Iraq to free Iraqi oil is the reason for the chaos in the Mid-East --- just as the CIA tried to tell the Bushter but was over-ruled by Darth Vader.
Hillary Clinton dismisses Trumps alternate reality
"I've adopted a New Year's resolution," Clinton said at a question-and-answer session with voters in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
"I'm going to let him live in his alternate reality," she said. "I'm not going to respond."
Clinton had been asked to respond to what the questioner said was Trump's charge that Clinton and President Obama had "created" the Islamic State militant group through their actions in the Middle East.

(30,058 posts)Trump wants to attack others, he has his skeletons and those can come up again. HRC chooses to stand above the crap Trump puts out, I fail to see the support he gets and then I remember there is a big hate base in the GOP.

(6,436 posts)shocking (& therefor 'impressive') --- IF you are 14 yrs old and still trying to show how you can defy standards your parents laid down. He's still trying to prove what a BIG - tough Guy he is.. It's called Punk Talk

(51,550 posts)Especially a skunk who has not clinched the GOP nomination yet. With fellow GOPers like Cruz mocking Trump by posting the clip of Fonzie jumping the shark, what more needs to be said? Her focus is and should be winning the Dem nomination right now, and she is doing a great job of that.

(6,436 posts)point should be repeated. Here's a great post on the Conservative Alternate reality from Prosense: Flashback: Frum criticized Republicans' "alternate reality"

(24,780 posts)The conservative alternate reality. Read their websites, their forum posts. They deal with a totally different set of "facts" that are not. It's like that for everything. Science, religion, politics, you name it. There is no common ground. It's where they have lost the more sane Republicans. Think about it as an alternative reality. It's why they flat reject anything factual that is counter to what they "know" as fact. It's why the cognitive dissonance runs so strong. It's also why they will be obliterated in November, be it Hillary or Sanders. Because the saner GOP and indies will run from them like the devil from holy water.

(6,436 posts)good characterization of how the Conservatives seem to occupy a different world from the one the rest of us live in.
I was particularly pleased to when Al Gore used this phrase in his keynote address at the We Media Conference of 2005.
here's how he opened his speech...
I came here today because I believe that American democracy is in grave danger. It is no longer possible to ignore the strangeness of our public discourse . I know that I am not the only one who feels that something has gone basically and badly wrong in the way America's fabled "marketplace of ideas" now functions.
How many of you, I wonder, have heard a friend or a family member in the last few years remark that it's almost as if America has entered "an alternate universe"?
I thought maybe it was an aberration when three-quarters of Americans said they believed that Saddam Hussein was responsible for attacking us on September 11, 2001. But more than four years later, between a third and a half still believe Saddam was personally responsible for planning and supporting the attack.

I hope Clinton continues to refer to the aberrant frame of mind of Conservatives in this way.
