2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWell, I'll be damned! Morning Joe had a full segment interviewing Bernie!
They let Bernie lay out his agenda quite thoroughly. It looked like Mika enjoyed hearing what he had to say and Joe was very respectful and courteous. They had Jane on, too, and talked a bit about her history as a local organizer (reminding me of early Obama!) for social justice in so many areas.
Joe and Mika seemed amazed that Bernie could raise so much money from small donors -- those $27 donors -- to whom they can go back to again. It was a good point.
It was a delightful half hour or so and Bernie laid out his case that we here at DU know so well. It couldn't have been better, IMO.
Well, I guess I've had my "sugar high" on Bernie today and from Morning Joe of all places. They really gave him lots of time and nobody got pissy...
It was a good day for Democrats on MJ. They were deeply impressed by Obama's presentation of his gun control E.O.'s but their repuke guests were typically crappy. Boy what a contrast later with Bernie...

I know it's silly, but one thing I noticed is how he, like the Donald, says "yuge" for "huge." They're both New Yorkers.
dorkzilla
(5,141 posts)Actually I take that back. Im the only one born in the NYC boroughs that doesnt say yuge.
My proper Edwardian grandma made sure I spoke the Kings English, conducting her own elocution lessons so I would know how to properly give a Duke his due on Tuesday if he passed by 233rd Street.
Seriously, I was trained not to say too (2) little boyds (birds) sitting on a koyb (curb) eating woims (worms).
I guess it was yuge that she did that.
Armstead
(47,803 posts)Some show (I forget which) noticed the same thing and put together a reel of both trumop and Bernie from different speeches using the word "yuge." It was kind of funny.

(63,893 posts)it was Bernie's sheer common sense (scarce on that show) and moral outrage at what is going on in this country, also scarce on that show...someone at last sitting down with the MJ crew and giving it to them straight...

I don't know if this part has the interview with Jane Sanders but that was a good watch, also. I saw it live so I didn't go through the posted video but if anyone missed it they can watch some of it here posted on DU

Or, go to MSNBC and watch the Video Segments of the Whole Interview, Scrolling Down to "Morning Joe" Clips at bottom:

(3,190 posts)Bernie has been on MJ; the first time was back in the summer when Bernie was having his massive rallies and I remember being surprised Joe was very respectful, asked good questions and allowed Bernie to respond without interruption.
I think Joe kinda likes Bernie and may secretly agree with him on a lot of things.

(26,599 posts)gave up MJ a long time ago, but Bernie is always worth watching. Thanks for letting us know.

(1,779 posts)I have recorded it and will watch it again tonight, but very, very nice interview!
Certainly Bernie is making it into some MSM platforms. And Jane Sanders also was very positive, knowledgeable.
But MJ interview that I can remember!
YOHABLO
(7,358 posts)they haven't been giving Sanders fair air time. As you know, those of you who have watched this, Trump had a little 'sit down' with Mika and Joe before the Sanders piece. Plus the fact Joe surrounds himself with Republican Lites and DLCers every morning. Can't you see that gang at a cocktail party with their scotches on the rocks in hand. Sickens me.
MSNBC is running out of viewers.
LiberalArkie
(15,703 posts)office without large amounts of money from the rich and powerful. Everyone was told that the John Does could not finance a large political campaign. That is why you can not have public financing. Bernie #1 goal was to prove that public financing can work.

There's a pretty good assortment of like-minded posters there. What fun!
I'd say that Mika was feeling the Bern this morning, given her nodding and vocal agreement!

No wonder Bernie loves her...
LiberalArkie
(15,703 posts)thing the media wants is for politicians to start conducting campaigns via internet and person to person again campaigns instead of spending millions on media advertising. All the media is very scared that Bernie might win or even get close to winning. That would not be good for lobbyists or large wealthy donors.

I have talked to a high school "friend" who is old money and he is hoping for Bernie. He said he lost way too much to the bankers on Wall Street. We keep thinking Wall Street, but there were very few who made money from the collapse. Not a lot of people who held a lot of stock did all that well especially if they were not insiders. He was hoping that someone would do something to "reign in the Capones on Wall Street".
