Related: About this forumNo wonder Tweety had an hour-long lovefest with Hillary on his show yesterday...
http://kathleenmatthewsforcongress.com/press-releases/md-8-democratic-congressional-candidate-kathleen-matthews-endorses-hillary-clinton/His wife is running for Congress, and she endorsed Hillary. Did he mention that on the program? Sickening how "incestuous" all these people are.

(6,604 posts)so I'll bookmark this thread to see whether an after-the-fact disclosure/apology is forthcoming from them.
I could check their website, but it rivals Salon's in uselessness and sheer junk.
And I rarely watched Tweety because he's a complete asshole.
bvf
(6,604 posts)From his inability to let panelists utter a complete thought without interrupting them, to his constant look-at-me references to his previous "accomplishments," to his smug self-satisfaction whenever he'd thought he'd said something clever and would repeat it at least twice...
Damn it, you got me started!
And despite having said all the above, I hardly watched him either--he's always in asshole mode.

(135,425 posts)too. Even if he can't and won't say so publicly. It's not like there's a massive surprise there based on history with the Democratic Party--even though he comes from a GOP family in PA. His brother ran for governor on the GOP ticket (lost).
You think the Brunch With Bernie guy endorses Sanders?
Of course he does.
Kathleen Matthews is not a super delegate. She's just a candidate. If anything, SHE needs HRC's help far more than HRC needs hers. She had a small following in the greater DC area owing to her newscaster job, but she'd be preaching to the choir in that milieu anyway--no value added.
Morning Joe had Sanders on this morning. He was on some other show last night. He was on one of the weekend talkers over the weekend.
He's been all over the tube. It's what candidates do.
Fawke Em
(11,366 posts)Yes, he says he's voting for Bernie, adds that he likes Hillary, but here's the thing: he's not a journalist. Tweety allegedly is.
MADem
(135,425 posts)are with the DEMOCRATIC Party.
You cannot possibly believe that Tweety is or has ever been a "reporter" --all he does, all damn day, is OPINE. If he were a reporter he wouldn't be giving his OPINION about the strengths and weaknesses of this one or that one--he'd be "reporting" on the events of the day either from the field or as an anchor.
He is NOT "non-partisan" and anyone who thinks that is whistling in the dark. Al Sharpton isn't either, nor is George Stephanopolous. The minute a talking head says "I think..." they aren't reporting--they are giving their perspective.

(12,655 posts)does tweety bird even START a sentence ever without saying "i think blah blah blah"?????
this calls for a darrell hammond flashback...in it, "matthews" wastes karl rove, coulter, and a couple of other people

He is hired and paid by MSNBC to express OPINIONS. They like it when his blood sugar gets a little wonky--he says outrageous things. It's good for ratings.
Anyone who remains "puzzled" as to CM's "lean" has not been paying any attention at all. It's not a secret. People tune in to either agree with him, or be angered by him.
If you're looking for "reportage" from Tweety Bird, you're looking in the wrong bird cage.
Punkingal
(9,522 posts)I was commenting on the HYPOCRISY. Stop lecturing me or telling me what to do. I have been watching Tweety for years, since he was a columnist for the San Francisco Examiner, long before he had his own show. I even knew he worked for Tip O. Surprised, are you? I'm not stupid, and I don't need you to educate me. You aren't the only person who has been involved in politics for a long time.
It doesn't matter what his title is.....he has a FORUM.
MADem
(135,425 posts)This isn't a subject for debate--it's a fact.
I'm not "lecturing you or telling you what to do" either. If you tell me the sky is polka dotted, I'm going to disabuse you of that notion.
Tweety is not a reporter and he never has been one. And of COURSE he has a "forum." He's had one for years.
And, as I said, you presumably have a working remote to make that forum disappear if you don't like it.
bvf
(6,604 posts)that the only mentions of the word "reporter" are in your own posts.
BTW, his current employer refers to him as a "veteran journalist." If you were to send them an email of complaint, I'm sure they'd give it due attention.

(135,425 posts)They can call him what they'd like, and he may be a "veteran" of the "journalistic" trenches--but he's a pundit now. He's not a "journalist" in the mode of Cronkite or Morrow, at least not in his position at MSNBC. The information he imparts is imbued with BIAS, and that is why people tune in--they know he is biased, and they either like it, or they want to rail against it.
It's not a bug, it is a feature--but it is what it is.

(8,175 posts)I don't watch Morning Joe, and I didn't see this show, so I won't comment on it other than to say I think it's refreshing that someone who is typically conservative would treat a democratic contender with respect.
It is possible though, that he did this show with Bernie, the way he did, because the show is in trouble and he tried to reach a new audience?

(3,457 posts)(The Mulford Act was a 1967 California bill which repealed a law allowing public carrying of loaded firearms. Named after Republican assemblyman Don Mulford, the bill garnered national attention after the Black Panthers marched bearing arms upon the California State Capitol to protest the bill.[1][2] The bill was signed by Republican California Governor Ronald Reagan and became California penal code 25850 and 171c.)

(42,862 posts)One would imagine that an experienced politician like Bernie could easily overcome the challenge (my word) that he faces without his followers having to invent grievances, or turn everything into a vast conspiracy, or make tangential excuses to explain why he's so far behind in the polls, and why labor unions, governors, senators and congresspersons have overwhelmingly endorsed Hillary.
