W/out even seeing this movie or reading about it how do I know there will be something in it
about trying to call for support or wanting to go and save the good guys but a "stand down order"
kept the heroes from saving the day?
The right is trying to go after Hillary w/the big lie* act and so even though both the Benghazi
attack/stand down order story and what about Hilary's emails have been proven to be bullshit
those memes are gonna be pushed 24/7.

(3,433 posts)The use of media (entertainment and "journalism" as a political blunt object is common place in this country and has been for quite sometime. The timing of this doesn't surprise me and quite frankly, all feelings about Bush aside, the timing of the Killian Document 60 Minutes in 04 wasn't surprising.

(70,490 posts).... but what about Dan Rather?
This new Benghazi movie is a hit piece to use against Hillary end of story.

(3,433 posts)I believe the goal of the 60 Minute spot was the same. We can agree to disagree.

(11,804 posts)I think that Michael Bay and those financing this movie are hoping to tap into resentment against liberals and Clinton to sell their movie; they may see trashing Clinton as a nice side effect, but at the end of the day it's all about making money. So they get it two ways. 1) people who want to see an action flick and don't care about the politics 2) people who do care about the politics and want to see a movie in which heroic soldiers stand up to cowardly liberal politicians.

The last time Michael Bay made a movie based on real life events was 2001, when he made Pearl Harbor. That film cost a bundle to make and it made a significant profit. However, it didn't live up to expectations and a lot of people attacked the film for being historically inaccurate. This time around, that historical inaccuracy might be a selling point. I get the feeling the target audience for this movie wants a shameless pro-military propaganda piece. Because of this, there is a wide margin of error here. It could earn less money than Pain and Gain earned, or it could be a surprise $100 million hit. I think the lower end is more likely, but it will really depend on the film's word-of-mouth amongst its intended audience.
Paramount previously released American Sniper and Lone Survivor. I couldn't make it past the first 20 minutes of either -just no my genre. I prefer The Big Red One or A Bridge Too Far to either of those. So not likely to see this - but a bit of insight into Michael Bay's approach (not a fan of his flicks in general either): http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/06/movies/13-hours-gives-benghazi-attack-cinematic-treatment.html?_r=0
The Numbers is pretty good at trying to id your potential reader at the studio or production company if you have a screenplay concept. What I can't find is the number of screens. The numbers is targeting a potential 70 mill on a 50 mill production. . . That's a financial flop. The Studio doesn't even begin to break even - so why make it in the first place?
Read the NYT piece if you get the chance. . . little of Obama and they are 'telling us' very little political approach but that's kind of hard to believe considering their last two 'big war flicks'.

(4,516 posts)as right-wing propaganda has in the past. The RW is scared of its own shadow. I don't think they are too keen on leaving their weapons behind to enter a movie theater.
