2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLast night, for the first time, I believed that Bernie Sanders could become president.
Let me just say upfront that I am a Bernie supporter.
HOWEVER, I think Hillary would make a fine president and I will vote for her if she becomes the nominee.
In fact, until last night, that's what I figured would probably happen.
Last night I went to dinner with a group of friends, some of whom are EXTREMELY CONSERVATIVE.
As in, the books on their shelves are mostly about Reagan and W.
When we were breaking up for the night, we were standing by my car, a 1999 Subaru Forester with a variety of liberal stickers on it.
One friend remarked that I needed a Bernie sticker. I said I had one, but hadn't found space for it yet!
Then my husband remarked that we do have a Bernie sign in our yard.
Our conservative friends then said: That they were impressed by Bernie's honesty and his genuine caring for people!
And then went on to say that they thought he could become president!!!
They didn't go so far as to say they would vote for him, but they seemed OK with the idea of a Bernie presidency.
Maybe with the horrible Republican field, some of the less insane of the conservatives will either sit out voting or consider voting for someone they see as at least honest and caring.
Just reporting an incident that surprised and delighted me.
Feel free to flame or discount it, it won't bother me!
