2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumFine, I'll say it. Even as a Clinton supporter, it is clear Bernie has picked up momentum in IA
And nationally.
Good for him and bravo to the supporters who are bringing an insane level on enthusiasm to the ground game. I certainly won't stand in the way of you guys celebrating good news, so congrats on seeing all the time, effort and hard work pay off.
And I will say right here and right now that if Bernie manages to pull off the upset for the nomination itself, know that I'll have the back of the Democratic nominee.
So a tip of the hat and see you in Iowa.

Funny how when the polls run against Clinton, you are suddenly dismissing them, when before you were using them as claiming Clinton was inevitable in winning against Bernie then.
Bernie's people aren't suddenly saying that the caucuses are in the bag and not needing to do any more. They are still working hard, as polls aren't really the ultimate measurement that the actual votes are. Clinton should have learned that heavy poll leads don't mean victory like they didn't mean anything against Obama in 2008 either.

(260 posts)That's a great statement that avoids all the rancor I've seen between the Hillary and Bernie supporters on this forum.
I thank you for your response and even though I'm an independent and not a Democrat there is no doubt that whoever the Democratic nominee is he or she will have my complete support.
Full disclosure; I took that 'https://www.isidewith.com/' quiz and it said I was aligned 96% Bernie and 87% Hillary, and 79% O'Malley. As you may suspect it showed little resonance with the Republican offerings.

(94,490 posts)...turning out voters.
I'll accept that the people who say they intend to vote for Sanders are sincere. The unknowns are:
- Will they clear their calendars to show up on a cold dark night and stay for several hours, or will they find that they have schedule conflicts?
- Are they prepared to stand around during the voting process and publicly affirm their support, as opposed to casting an anonymous vote?
- Will the Sanders team have the volume and experience in its ground team to cajole and organize those voters?
Bluenorthwest
(45,319 posts)Barack Obama 37.6%
John Edwards 29.7
Hillary Rodham Clinton 29.5
Hillary carried the Senior vote by a good margin and the votes of married people by 1 point over Obama. Obama took the youth, singles and labor votes by good chunks.

I'm not surprised by NH but Clinton was +17.7 less than four weeks ago in Iowa. Closing that gap so quickly is undeniable and pretty major.

(11,518 posts)IF she happens to be the nominee. Elections are about making a choice about which candidate comes closest to representing your beliefs and values. Given the choice between EITHER of the Democratic candidates and the clown car on the right that decision will be a no-brainer.
Beacool
(30,247 posts)There's no amount of bashing, no matter how low, that hasn't been used. Therefore, I haven't seen much class or discernment from far too many. I still think that Hillary will be the nominee even if Sanders were to win IA and NH, but no matter who wins, I will vote for the nominee. I have seen quite a few posts from Sanders' supporters proclaiming that they wouldn't vote Hillary. I have not seen equivalent posts from those who support Hillary.

(525 posts)It's going to be a close race. And as a Sanders supporter, I'll be honest. I'm not looking forward to the next debate. Hillary is really good in that format. I think DWS did a favor to Sanders for the primary (still a negative for Dems as a whole in the general - down ballot too).
rhett o rick
(55,981 posts)think that DWS did Sanders a favor by limiting the debates. He has clearly won each and every one of them.

(8,168 posts)I like both candidates and would be ecstatic if Bernie could pull off the upset, but it is fantastically delusional to state unequivocally that Bernie won all of the debates I watched every minute of them and observed the polling after all of them. Fanboi status sucks, be more open minded if you want to be taken seriously.
