1. My Wife & I went "On Strike" in 2006.

Cashed out everything, sold everything,
bought inexpensive rural property outright,
moved to the Woods,
& started growing our own food.
We build everything ourselves using basic tools.
We buy almost nothing new with an exception for Tools, American Made where possible.
Everything else, 2nd hand or Salvage and we Make it Work,
or do without.
What we can't grow or produce ourselves,
we buy in bulk through a Co-Op when-ever-possible.

Wall Street, the Big Banks, Credit Cards, the MIC, and most politicians can Live or Die without our money or concern.
We are living well on a laughably low "taxable" income
and stuff we learned in the 60s.



We are still on the Corporate hook for some things,
but next year, we will !CONSUME! even LESS,
and Produce MORE.
It IS a Process.

So far, so good,
but it is not for everyone.
We are both healthy & strong,
and have a complementary set of skills that make this fun (most of the time),
There is plenty of room our here in The Woods,
and plenty of healthy WORK for those who aren't scared to get their hands dirty.
We are waiting for you all to join us.

2. I hope I can join you one day.

I'm always happiest when I'm digging in the dirt, or tying up blackberry vines, or just walking in the woods. I've been an engineer for almost 25 years now. I had a conversation with my wife on the front porch on Sunday. We're closer than ever to being in agreement about where we want to live. I think we may join you one day. Thanks for sharing.

We haven't regretted a single day.
Everything sort of fell our way once we made the decision.
When we look back at all the things that could have gone wrong and didn't,
we feel very fortunate.

3. Lol, I didn't have to click that link to see who is so worrried about the success of Occupy.

The same people have been predicting the death of Occupy since Sept 17th. It's a strange position to take for any democrat frankly. Shouldn't Democrats be on the side of the people? Anyhow, for six months they've been wrong, so I'm not too worried about the nay sayers. I'm sure all the rightwingers are hoping for failure also. They really do hate this movement on Fox which only means it is worth supporting.

If anyone is worried about the success of the movement all they have to do is help. Everyone is welcome. They can do that by participating rather than sitting on the sidelines, for six months now, predicting its doom.

I'm afraid those who want it to fail are going to be very disappointed over the next few years. It will only grow as things get worse and watching what is going on around the world, there is little to show that anything is getting better for the 99% anytime soon.
