The answer is easy. You enter the Harpo alternative universe of Oprah and become famous for what you have professed to be incompetent.

Oh boy! After that, what can one say except in the Oprah universe all is possible. Hence her support of "The Secret", Jenny McCarthy's anti-vaccination wackaloonery, Dr. Oz and his support of John of God scams, etc. etc. etc.

In a rational universe Dr. Phil would have been swallowed up in ignominy. (Maybe there's still hope.)

Sorry for the thread highjack, but I have a particular dislike for how Oprah has misused her fame and fortune. Dr. Phil is an exemplar of that. And McCarthy, and Oz, and, and, and, and...

I think Dr. Phil is just generating hits for his Twitter and ratings for his TV show. There is no doubt in my mind that he recognizes this as rape, I think he's trying to gauge how many others do (or don't). It's a ratings generator, and something that, had he not removed it, he would have likely referred to in a future show on the topic. As in: "A recent poll showed that __% of people think that having sex with an unconscious woman is OK."

He's a Texas-sized asshole in a lot of ways, but this just isn't one of them.

It's MRA propaganda. It's a myth started by abusive fathers so they can continue to abuse their ex wives and children after their wives leave them.

Too bad he wasn't shamed into deleting that shit too.

He's disgusting.

Men need to step up and provide leadership and direction for their families, blah blah blah. This is pretty skin-crawly for me - I don't think anyone needs to be the head of the household. That job should, in healthy relationships, be shared. Or at least fluid, going back and forth based on the strengths or needs of the individual partners and the circumstances at the moment.

But, I still think he's only using his twitter to get fodder for his shows.

and I expect his spin on the answers to that rape question would fall right in line with his patriarchal bullshit.

Not my fucking household, or any household I have ever lived in (or will ever live in).

Fuck that noise.

"Skin-crawly" is a good description and I agree with what you wrote.

Now this. Just had to put his sick self out here. I'd rather listen to Jerry Springer--at least he honest about being a slime bag, (more or less)
