Anyone who mistakenly believes that misogyny is a thing of the past—or harbors any misguided convictions that we in the Western world live in a gender equal society—should take a minute to check out the unbelievably vile, shocking and disgusting comments on New York-based journalist Jessica Valenti’s Twitter feed.

Valenti unwittingly unleashed an insane, angry, nasty and stuck in the 1970s’ stylie (one would think) misogynistic-to-the-Nth-degree, social media shit storm over the weekend after sending— what the vast majority of the sane world would view as—a totally innocuous tweet about feminine hygiene products.

Yeah, really.

“Twitter friends: Anyone know a country where tampons are free or somehow subsidized?” the Guardian columnist pondered Friday via her (PERSONAL) Twitter account.

How very dare she!!!!

Seriously… how VERY DARE she?!!!!

Who does this woman think she is?!!! To post such a vile missive on her personal twitter feed! Outrageous… disgusting… unforgivable…. Whore. Bitch. Cunt!!!

I mean, let’s face it—this radical feminist is literally RAMMING her crazed, insane agenda down our throats, isn’t she?

As a woman, this is the kind of thing not only hurts and disgusts me -- along with

women and girls the world over -- it makes me throw up my hands in disbelief and despair.

6. I think Ms. Valenti has a reasonable idea to explore. I'm an

old white guy and I had never really given much thought to this but it seems like a problem for women that could somehow be intelligently addressed without all the stupid furor.

I do not know what the hell is the matter with people these days. How sad that you cannot even have a discussion of a problem that affects millions of women, not just in this country but worldwide, without bringing out all the misogynist trolls to try and shut it down. It doesn't seem to be limited to just this particular instance but almost an ongoing vendetta against anything benefiting women and especially poor women. How sad!
