Yeah, it's sexist, but I think it boils down to sex or money to get ahead. I didn't have connections. I never had any mentors, just people competing with me and often lying about me to block me from being hired.

Yes, it's demeaning and men created it. Sexual harassment is real in many professions. I once had an assistant District Attorney expose himself to me when I was staying late at the courthouse working on a jury charge. I was a court reporter. I was terrified of the guy.
I should have filed charges on him. This was decades ago when we didn't even have words for the horrible things that some men did to us.

I never compromised my integrity with offering sex or money to get ahead which may be why I could never get a career with a law firm started despite outstanding credentials.

I seem to remember reading it was pretty bad back in the day of control freak tight contracts, and is still a big issue especially with ingenues
