How can I get DU search to show latest posts first?

Whatever I search for, it seems to find stuff from 2016 before the more recent stuff. I think.

1. If you're using the Advanced Search, you can tell it what dates you want.

You have a donor star, which means you can use the Advanced Search, and not just the Google site search.
