DU Community Help
Related: About this forumHello DU. I'm new to the site and wanted to say hello.
Finally a place were I feel comfortable. I'm from Georgia just outside of Atlanta but don't hold it against me that my state voted for Newt. I believe that they did, so you wouldn't have too. I am surrounded by RW numb nuts. Majority of my husband's family are Newt and Mitt supporters, and my BIL has a giant sticker the size of a small child on his car. Yeah, I know right. Oh it gets better, but I'll save that for a later date. I just can't take any more rhetoric constantly being posted on FB. I don't have all day to correct them, so I have chose to turn the other cheek and join a site that represents my values. I look forward to getting to know and learn from many of you.

Enjoy!

(8,571 posts)K & R stands for kick and recommendation. You are kicking a thread by replying and you are also giving it a vote for recommended reading. (By clicking on the box that says "Du Rec"
"nt" stands for not having any further text, or "no text". It saves people from opening up your reply only to see nothing further there.
For example, I'll use your question.
6. Could someone tell me what k & r, nt stand for? nt
(without your smiley face in the text box, the white area) It would let everyone know that you had nothing further to add but what you asked in the title of your response. (gray box)
I hope that helped.

(3 posts)I also wanted to introduce myself.
I come here form time to time and I decided to join today.
Coincidentally I also live in GA, in Atlanta proper. I'm VERY active in democratic politics in the state.
Anyway, just looking forward to meeting new Dems in GA and around the country.

(4 posts)Claybrains, I am fishing gal in Oregon and will be moving to the C d'A area when I get my home here sold to be closer to family and enjoying the outdoors with them there.
I am leaving fairly liberal area on the coast and maybe jumping into the right wing frying pan ? LOL I do have opinions but basically lean toward moderation and compromise for politics. Maybe I am a "Blue-dog Democrat " ?
I too have GOP family but in Boise area. I won't talk politics with them anymore. Like talking to a brick wall.
Maybe we will yak more on here another day ?
They say I have to post 5 times b/4 and intro ? Guess this is sort of an intro ? LOL..........
Cheers!

(132 posts)I bet the fishing is good. I can only imagine what the lakes, rivers, and streams must looks like. Lucky you.
Glad to meet another newbie gal on the site. Hope we run into each other sometimes.
Cheers!

(10,745 posts)Living just north of Dallas right now, but there's at least some Democrats here, so it's not so bad. I could be living in Tyler, Lubbock, or Wichita Falls where there practically aren't any Dems to be seen.....
I hope you have fun here, man.

(132 posts)I do find a lot of interesting topics here that I normally don't hear about. Hell, even our local newspaper leans to the right. I'm out numbered and it's driving me nuts. Where's the common sense anymore? I've been called a sheeple before, but I feel more like the black sheep, so I don't know how that is supposed to work out. Go figure. Don't be a stranger AJ90

Limey202
(4 posts)Hello from England.
Listen you lot, I just joined this board 'cos I am interested.
In UK I count as a moderate lefty. I have been on a couple of US Conservative sites (just for giggles and the arguments you know) and apparantly, in your terms, I am a cross between Karl Marx, Satan and some guy I never heard of, the cultural reference is non transatlantic. Sean Penn was it? I forget. Did he found Pennsylvania or was he the guy who used to suck Madonna's dick? Might have been someone off Friends. Dunno. Nigel something?
Anyhow.
Am I welcome here or is it insular American nattering? I have to say, your Conservative opposites are fairly outward looking.
Message ends.

We would love to hear your point of view on our political scene.
Ah thank you Peggy.
My first response on Liberty Forum from a nasty con was along the lines of 'why don't you piss off you limey son of a bitch grrrr'.
We got past that. He even manages to listen to me a bit about socialised medicine, imagine the thrill.
Your welcome is better.
Right. So. Let's get on with the international Revolution then, shall we....? New thread ASAP. It's late here though, I need to go to bed as soon as I finish this bottle of red.

(132 posts)Well obviously I know nothing about online marketing, since I new. Interesting facts and other things are plentiful. Don't mind me. I just giddy with delight. It must be my afterglow from last night's inauguration. Welcome to the party.

(1 post)I can't start a thread of my own yet. I look forward to speaking with you. I'm surrounded by teabaggers who worship Rush Limbaugh. Very difficult for me as an occupier, internet activist/hactivist. I'm also into conspiracy theories but not overtly, just the ones I think have merit. Tomorrow's my bday so I guess signing up here was like a gift to myself. lol I look forward to getting to know you & I hope I don't bore you.
