Trouble with search feature

The only search feature i see on the DU forum is a Google box at the top of the page, when i type in my criteria it takes me to related info but it seems to first take me to a list of sites on a google page then when i try to type in a reply to topic i get a message saying =

You are viewing an obsolete version of the DU website which is no longer supported by the Administrators.

a reply is not possible at that point..
If i click on advanced search anothe window pops up saying =

is their another search feature i'm not seeing?as this is one heck of a big site and not having a search feature is a bit of an inconvenience

You need to have a donor star in order to use it. You can donate any amount you want and many things happen.

The ads disappear, which is wonderful!

And you can use DU's own search, which is simple and intuitive.

There are other features, which I don't remember.

So, cough up a little money, and it's available.

It restricts your search to the democraticunderground.com domain, however that won't distinguish between DU3 (the current site) and DU2 (the previous site software prior to December 2011). If you click on a search result and you get the obsolete version of the DU website message, that means the result is from DU2. You can tell because the web addresses are different: DU3 has either a number or /?com... after the domain name and DU2 has /discuss/duboard.php?... after it.

To help restrict your results to DU3 you can add DU3 specific text that appears on all the pages here like: "my profile", "forums & groups", "my subscriptions", etc. (Keep the quotation marks around the phrase you use to make it search for the whole phrase.) Or if you want to dig into the Google advanced search features, you can limit the dates of the search results - DU3 went active mid-December 2011.
