And the warmth. Due to expenses, I'm on a modem connection almost as slow as dial-up, so bear with me if I'm slow to respond to anyone! This site is very user-friendly (I've even figured out excerpts and block quotes; close tags, however, are a mystery) and even though there are disagreements, it seems to never go to major flameouts.

Maybe I'm home after all!

I am glad to be here too but for the life of me cant read these forums

I am used to the most recent post being at the top and each post in its entirety is below the most recent, not one liner recaps

i hate that

but i cant start a thread to ask how to fix it

and why do you have to have a reply title?

makes no sense

and where is the subscribe button?

otherwise I will never know if i get a response

The post with the most recent replies is at the top.

You don't actually have to have a reply title. Just put in some dots, like these: ...

I don't know what you mean by the subscribe button. Can you describe it?

You WILL get the hang of things, eventually!

all forums have it as does this one per my research but i dont see the button

what it means is if someone responds you will get a notice by email that a response has been made

it says there is a button a red button to subscribe but i dont see it

and i dont see in controls area where you choose to receive emails about responses

thanks for the help, i guess you have to see BOTH the list of responses in abbreviated form and the actual posts, when you look at the page you first see all posts in abbreviated form then the posts in full form, most forums it is one or the other

There's a tab at the top of the page that says MY POSTS. It will turn yellow. Then you'll know at least one of your posts has a response. You click on your yellow MY POSTS button, and it will take you to those.

My post here will generate a yellow tab for you to see.

About subscribing: some forums don't allow you to subscribe. They're always here. There are other groups that do allow you to subscribe, and this is how you do that:

Right next to the big blue button on the left that says "start a conversation", there's a rather orange button that says "subscribe." If you want to see that group every time someone posts something in it, you click that subscribe button. And then whenever someone posts in the group, your Subscription button turns yellow. When you click on that, you are taken to your list of subscriptions where you will see which one has a new post.

It sounds worse than it is, honest!
