How do I turn the ads back off?

I clicked on a very bad link someone posted in one of the threads yesterday to watch the opening ceremonies. I don't know for sure if it's related, but the ads are back all over the threads and I can't find where in preferences to turn them back off. Thanks for any help.

I just noticed the same ads are following me to other forums that don't normally have any ads. Malwarebytes got rid of some stuff but there's something left. I cant understand why another du'er would post a link to a malicious site, and claim they've been using it for years to watch sports.

It had installed an hd video player in my firefox add ons. I removed that and things are back to normal.
