During Congress’ summer recess this August, members of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America will be holding lemonade stands across the country to pressure Congress to pass background check legislation when they return in the fall.

"Congress gave America lemons in April when the Senate failed to pass common-sense legislation that would have expanded background checks on all gun sales. Moms were disappointed by the Senate’s failure to act, but we were not deterred, and we’re making lemonade out of the lemons we were given," said Kristin Wald of the NJ Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

"Our lemonade stands are our way of taking a stand: American moms demand new and stronger gun laws, and we’re not going away. Congress must act to protect our children and families from gun violence."

In addition to Morristown, NJ, lemonade stands will be held in cities across the country, including Washington, DC; Tucson and Phoenix, AZ; San Diego, CA; Atlanta and Savannah, GA; Indianapolis, IN; Fancy Farm, KY; Tampa, FL; Boston, MA; Charlotte, Clemmons, Winston-Salem, and Durham, NC; Glen Rock, NJ; Brooklyn, Rockland County and Hudson Valley, NY; Cleveland and Columbus, OH; Portland, OR; Harrisburg, PA; Nashville, TN; Austin and Houston, TX; Falls Church, VA.

1. More and more

Americans are standing up to the NRA and the corrupt politicians they have purchased over the years. The NRA's only goal is to help its gun manufacturer and retail corporate sponsors (read arms dealers) sell more guns for profit and without any sort of oversight or regulations. The easier guns are to purchase, the more they can manufacture and sell. These monsters have absolutely no regrets about the misery and suffering they enable.

This group of American Moms is right up there with Gabby Giffords and the other sane gun control advocates in this nation, and I salute and support them all.
