NRA Talking Points and RKBA Proponents
The argument that the NRA doesn't have "talking points," and that even if they did upstanding RKBA adherents would never use them, is used by DU RKBA supporters ad nauseum on almost any gun-related thread.
The fact is, that the NRA does indeed have standard tried-and-true Talking Points, and uses them very effectively. This strategy is based on the premise that if you tell a lie often enough, people will believe it. All of the TPs are centered around the big lie: they want to TAKE our GUNS!" The other NRA go-to Talking Point that is parroted by RKBA supporters on DU is the mental health end run. The fact is, that the NRA-sponsored mental health bill would have made it easier for people with a history of severe mental illness to buy firearms.
"Specifically, the NRA supported a bill offered by Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ted Cruz (R-TX) that would have let people who have been involuntarily committed to psychiatric hospitals buy guns immediately after their commitment order expired."

The bottom line is that those vitriolic diatribes from the usual suspects on DU are in reality nothing more than the right-wing, ALEC/Koch Brothers, Republican, NRA Talking Points thinly disguised as "protecting" the Second Amendment.
The other thinly veiled NRA Talking Point is the line that NRA/Koch Brother-supported politicians are "only doing the bidding of their constituents." Now pull the other one Bubba...
The American public, including sane American gun owners, are slowly awakening to the need for sensible gun control legislation, and this will become a groundswell of support in the coming months and years. It took the NRA several generations to spread their corruption and lies, and it will take as long as it takes to undo that brainwashing.
