California Challenges Concealed Weapons Ruling

"California's attorney general is appealing a federal court decision that overturned San Diego County's concealed weapons restrictions.

Kamala D. Harris filed the appeal Thursday with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

A three-judge panel of that court ruled Feb. 13 that people seeking concealed weapons permits needed to only cite a need for self-defense.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department had required applicants to show good cause to carry, such as working in a dangerous job.

Sheriff Bill Gore said he wouldn't challenge the ruling, but Harris is asking the full appellate court to reverse the decision of its panel.

Harris says local law enforcement must be able to use discretion to determine who can carry a concealed weapon."

Good for the State of California! This will most likely go all the way to the SCOTUS, but at least sanity and common sense are being represented. The NRA/ALEC/Fox News/Koch Brothers insane right-wing gun lobby will stop at nothing to buy corrupt politicians and influence the judiciary in order to flood this nation with guns-for-profit.
