Proposed gun laws don't consider costs and consequences

AB148 would allow the carrying of concealed firearms on college campuses. This bill has been touted as an effort to reduce violent crime and protect women from rape on campus.
However, a recent study using FBI Uniform Crime Statistics and Clery Act data from 2004 to 2013 shows the data does not support the argument that the presence of concealed weapons on campus causes a drop in crime. The study focused on the states of Utah and Colorado where concealed carry on campus is allowed and found the crime rates actually increased and the rate of forcible rape is rising at an alarming rate – much higher than the national average. In Colorado, the rate of rape increased 25% (2012) and 36% (2013).
The FBI Uniform Crime Statistics is a favorite cite for the nutters to prove that homicides are down so there really isn't a problem with 30,000 Americans dying every year. Wonder how they'll greet the college crime and rape data gathered from the same place? Ya' know they'll have some way to ignore it.
