Girl honored for good deed

Girl honored for good deed

Most parents and teachers attempt to teach children character but don’t always know if it sinks in. In this case, when a third-grader was put to the test, she proved she was special.

Haley Greco went with her class on a field trip to Governor’s State University to see a play. She found a $10 bill on the ground.

“Rather than pocketing the money, Haley turned it in to the University,” New Lenox School District media coordinator Jenny Zimmerman told the school board. “They let her know that if no one claimed the money, a donation would be made to one of the university’s programs.”

The university gave Greco and her family tickets to a play, along with a thank-you letter. Then the school board recognized her for her strength of character, honesty and integrity.
