People being wonderful today in the DC Metro area.

(cross-posted from GD)

This happened today.

Tara is eight years old. She has a brain tumor and has been undergoing a medical nightmare. Her family planned a princess party for her with her friends, to help encourage her through everything she is facing.

Well, these wonderful people got on the internet and found other wonderful people. A horse-drawn carriage was hired, and hundreds of people Tara had never met came out to line the streets for her, many dressed as knights and princesses, to wave and cheer to her and hold up signs as she traveled with her family and friends in her carriage along the route.

This is a beautiful reminder of who we really are. Every single one of us is so much more valuable than this cold, profit-driven society we live in would have us believe. We are powerful together, and we can be powerful for the right things, for what really matters.

I know it sounds trite, but it is also true.

Just as all squirrels are squirrels and embody the squirrel nature, all humans are also one, divided only by the illusion of individual identity and me-ness.

Thanks for the video.
