TPP Expanded

Maybe the time has come to create a People's Tribunal. Why should only the investor's have this profitable luxury?

We can focus on the American and Multinational Corporate Mafias and use something like the RICO Act as our guideline for award judgements.

If any corporation has been convicted of a crime or not and lose in our 3-member specially appointed judicial panel, we confiscate assets. The value will be determined by the damage that was inflicted on "We The People."

This will provide a 2-way street (Democracy) and maybe will offset or even surpass the investor tribunals earnings.

This may equalize both of the tribunals awards and result in a admirable balanced Tribunal budget. Otherwise it will be completely unbalanced in favor of investors and the people will suffer.

Could this even be an Amendment to the TPP?

1. I think you can do that right now, and you get to sue in your own country's court.

You can probably go to arbitration, which is similar to a tribunal. Of course, you have to show damages, just as companies would under the TPP.

2. But

can't corporations sue in their own countries courts and go to arbitration too?

Why do the mafia corporations have their own private tribunals and the people can't?

4. Because you are talking about international trade laws. If you were a Japanese

company that thought the USA was putting tougher restrictions on your auto emission than on USA cars, would you want to go to trial in Detroit or a tribunal specializing in international law.

Sure Toyota could sue the US government, and actually they can choose US courts to do it under TPP. The results might be a bit biased, though.

If a US citizen felt Toyota screwed them, that bias in a US court might be an advantage. People sue corporations a lot more than the tribunals get used. I'm not saying you don't have a though time going against a corporation, especially when the damages are questionable.

If you have reason to sue, and have a good case, there are plenty of attorneys begging for your business.

5. What's wrong with a trial in Detroit?

This is America, use our legal system. Their are plenty of American International lawyers begging for that Detroit business. Do you want those American attorneys to be jobless?

"a lot more than the tribunals get used" Good, then let's get rid of tribunals or offer an equal choice with a People's Tribunal.

You see when Mafia corporations stash trillions overseas and pay no USA taxes, the People's Tribunal would be an excellent place to sue for lost revenue and damages. This would help the American people.

If you want to help the American people, support the People's Tribunal.

6. No, because the US entered into an agreement with other countries to do certain things

American has used up more of its share of the world's resources and wealth as it is.

7. NO,

you don't want to help the American people?

So you think America is a BAD country for using up so many things?

Why do you hate America and want to harm the American people?

8. The problem with that line of thinking is this:

1. There are more vital and robust middle and working classes in many other OECD countries today.

2. All of the world's resources and wealth that have been accumulated from other countries has gone to a tiny sliver of assholes in America (My apologies to the VERY tiny sliver of Americans within that sliver that aren't assholes).

3. The TPP will undoubtedly hurt many Americans in the middle and working classes, but it won't hurt that same tiny sliver of assholes.

4. No, the TPP will be a vehicle where that tiny sliver of assholes will greatly expand their wealth and power, and it will come from the world's resources and wealth that you referenced.

I have little doubt that the TPP will make things more difficult for many people in many countries on a number of fronts (pharmaceutical prices in developing countries being one), but the capitalist class will be VERY well rewarded.

The TPP will punish the middle, working, and poverty classes. The very people who are struggling in this country. It's not going to punish the .1%/financial elite. They will continue to use up more of the world's resources and wealth.

3. Maybe the time is now

to start compiling a list of TPP Amendments and send them to our reps. Make them think twice before passing fast track.

9. Corporations, and the richest people in the world who own them, will keep pushing until they rule

all the world. They are very dangerous people to have around in a democracy. The uber wealthy think they are kings and they think they should rule over you. We have allowed them to accumulate so much money that they own the wealth of nations. With people that rich, nothing matters that they can't buy their way out of.

You can never have a true democracy or representative government until you have democracy in your economy. Politics and economics go together like a hand in glove. To think you can have a democratic form of government and a unequal, unfair economic system, like capitalism, is to be blind to how humans interact. The reason we in the US have an oligarchy is because of capitalism. Without capitalism, the rich and corporations would not have the wealth to overrun everyone else.

Every time you put restraints on the uber rich and corporations in order to keep them from abusing us all, they push and fight to take off those restraints. The real and only lasting solution is to tax their wealth out of existence and then make it illegal for anyone or any entity to accumulate so much. Without people with great wealth, you will NOT have people in great poverty.
