One thought, however:

I think you might have the BOG part wrong, and intergroup wars make DU suck.

The last thing we need is a "We Hate Obama" or "Screw the BOG" group.

If you like, think of it as the anti-DLC group.

peace

My favorite mode of dealing with the BOG and the Hilarious Ones is to ignore them. They're irrelevant. Acknowledging their very existence sucks energy better dedicated to more useful purposes. Whatever is resisted, persists and all that.

there is no room for a group with a/the "mission of the Barack Obama Group is to discuss information and news about the life, career, accomplishments, and presidency of Barack Obama; to provide a haven for those members of Democratic Underground who support the president and his policies ..."

But then, maybe, if the group that revels in daily anti-President Obama/Anti-Democrat rant posts would agree to self-segregate here (into the new group), it'll decrease the DU suckiness level for me, as I won't have to read it, or at least, can take location into consideration when deciding whether to respond.

So have at it ...

The post would have been hidden in a heartbeat in that case.

Amazing how un-Democratic so-called Democrats can be on this board. They really do delight in the divide-and-conquer, and revel in childish put-downs.

Talk about making DU suck!

I, personally, have no problem with the purpose of the BOG. I do object when posters try to turn GD into another BOG. And I think that a number of DU posters associate those that disrupt in GD with members of the BOG. I think that's an unfortunate association.

I don't see this group as an anti-BOG group in anyway. I see this group as a safe-haven for progressive discussions without the anti-progressive vitriol that some times creeps into GD, protected by friendly juries. That's not a complaint, just an observation.

But the question is begged ... if someone posts something "that isn't 100% agreement with the President" (I disagree with the characterization, but ...) in a forum that is set up to discuss the positive of President Obama, who, then, is attempting to "derail honest discussions"?

But as I stated a little earlier ... I will not be participating in/posting to this group.

And without condensation I think that's fine. In fact I wholly support it hoping that it will reduce conflicts in GD. I don't mind at all if posters want to follow the President w/o question, I only mind when they expect others to, to the point of rudeness. I think it's unreasonable to expect "politically liberal" posters to unquestioningly follow anyone. I got in trouble because I responded to an OP that showed up on the Greatest Page. I didn't notice it was the BOG and wouldn't have violated their sanctity had I known.

"But as I stated a little earlier ... I will not be participating in/posting to this group." I think that's a shame because I feel you bring a perspective to the table without ridicule and rudeness.

I don't understand those here in DU (I am not including you) that are unwilling to speak to certain subjects solely because they won't dare say anything possibly counter to the President. If posters support the President's stand on the TPP, it would be good to hear their arguments.

Thanks, lol!

Look, you are welcome to post here, or not. If you do post, respect the SOP:

Statement of Purpose
To discuss and debate issues, candidates, and strategies related to the promotion of progressive, populist reforms within the Democratic Party.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=about&forum=1277

and follow the ground rules:

SOME GROUND RULES:

• The PRG is a safe house for DUers interested in the progressive, populist reform of our Democratic party.
• If you disagree with PRG's message or goal, that's OK. Find a group that fits, or enjoy the DU forums.
• Everyone starts out as welcomed. No one earns their way in - only their way out.
• Follow all DU rules. Don't put the group at risk
http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=edit&forum=1277&thread=1

Further, don't poke the kitty. Disruptors will be shown the door. Can you accept those rules?

whether the group is merely a place to "bash" the Democratic Party.

I am a firm believer that one can discuss what one wants, without even mentioning what one doesn't want/like ... IOWs, one can discuss their ideal car, lover, or summer day, without even mentioning their current bucket, or current/past lovers, or winter.

To desire reform, you generally have to be of the mindset that reform is required.

You may not agree that reform is required, but the members of this Group do. If you see a Group desiring reform only as "a place to bash the Democratic Party" then you will probably not be happy here.

where the Democratic Party can improve, and that includes presenting (and standing behind) a more populous/progressive message.

I think you missed my point ... again, I am a firm believer that one can discuss what one wants, without even mentioning what one doesn't want/like ... the former is forward moving; though, I suppose the latter feels better.
