Thailand approves medicinal cannabis

Thailand's parliament has voted to approve cannabis for medical use, with a key lawmaker calling it a "New Year's gift" to the Thai people.

Recreational use will remain illegal.

Marijuana was used in Thailand as a traditional medicine, until it was banned in the 1930s.

South East Asia has some of the world's toughest penalties for drug usage or possession, and Thailand is the first in the region to allow medicinal marijuana.

Thailand's junta-appointed parliament voted to amend the Narcotic Act of 1979 on Tuesday.

North America, minus, of course, the U.S., has legalized medical cannabis. We must doggedly stick to that fucked up Schedule I status for the cannabis plant. 49 years of Schedule I. We’re a “stick in the mud” as far as cannabis goes, stubbornly not letting go of the CSA of 1970, or at least making some changes.. Let me repeat that; nineteen-FUCKING-seventy. Times have changed. It’s time this government did likewise! 🤔 Okay, time to hop off of my SOAPBOX.
