Chamber of Commerce Lobbyist Tom Donohue: Clinton Will Support TPP After Election

In an interview from Davos with Bloomberg TV on January 20, Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue, a top lobbyist for the pro-corporate-power Trans-Pacific Partnership [TPP] agreement, assured viewers that if Hillary Clinton wins the Presidential election, Clinton will support the TPP, even though she opposes it now.

Reporting on the interview, Inside U.S. Trade noted:

The Chamber president said he expected Hillary Clinton would ultimately support the TPP if she becomes the Democratic nominee for president and is elected. He argued that she has publicly opposed the deal chiefly because her main challenger, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), has also done so. "If she were to get nominated, if she were to be elected, I have a hunch that what runs in the family is you get a little practical if you ever get the job," he said.

He controls the Chamber and it's secret newspapers, like the Southeasttexasrecord.com, one in New Orleans, West Virginia and a few others, all with "Record" in the name. They would put printed versions outside of jury assembly rooms for free. The content is anti-plaintiff, lawsuit abuse crap designed to get potential jurors to think that the plaintiffs in the case they are about to sit on are frauds, their award would cost the juror more in insurance...

They fund candidates for judge all over the country, as well as school boards, city councils... The Chamber, under Donohue's leadership even filed an amicus brief (friend of the court) supporting one of BP's main appeals. All to the detriment of the local Chamber of Commerce businesses along the Gulf Coast. Those are small, U.S. Businesses, not some big foreign company like BP. Donohue's and the Chamber could care less about small American businesses.

Partly they operate through local affiliates in other nations. Partly through their Center for International Private Enterprise, which is funded through the National Endowment for Democracy as one of those semi-covert groups that the Reagan administration set up to do stuff the CIA couldn't handle legally. Partly through front groups that encourage employees in various industries to support free trade policies that will supposedly help that industry.

And that's just the visible stuff. When Anonymous hacked HBGary in 2011 and came up with a trove of documents on the Team Themis project, it turned out that the Chamber of Commerce was one of their clients and that a couple of groups attempting to unveil the Chamber's web of entanglements were among the targets -- along with the likes of WikiLeaks, Glenn Greenwald, and Brad Friedman of BradBlog.
