My message to Hillary supporters

Revolutions are not popularity contests where the highest score wins.

Revolutions don't revolve around numbers. They never have and they never will. They are the pure essential spirit of progress. And they have a tendency of succeeding even when no one thinks that success is possible. Consider the following: The American Revolution didn't have the support of a majority of Americans. Less that a decade before, Thomas Jefferson stated that is was the goal of every American to be a good and loyal citizen and supporter of the Crown. During the civil war, the lives of black people in the North were nearly every bit as hellish as they were in the South. Bands of bounty hunters chasing down escaped slaves operated freely throughout the Union right up the day that the Emancipation Proclamation became the law of the land. Acts of lynching of black people in the Northern cities of New York, Boston, Chicago, and Philadelphia increased dramatically during the conflict. A German pastor speaking at a protest at the Berlin Wall the morning of November 9, 1989 said that his dream was to see that wall come down sometime during his lifetime. The Berlin Wall opened to full travel that very same evening.

I voted for Bernie Sanders on Super Tuesday yesterday.

The delegate count doesn't matter to me. His losses in Massachusetts and the South don't matter to me. Hell, even the fact that I voted for Hillary over Obama in 2008 doesn't matter to me. I voted for Bernie Sanders because it was simply the right thing to do.

OK, then. Why in the hell am I posting this on the Hillary forum?

Please understand something. If it were up to Bernie he would just as soon stay in his humble role as a faithful and dedicated senator from a small state and stay out of the limelight. Hillary Clinton has been passionately running for president for over a decade. She has coveted that position in the White House since the day her husband took the oath in January 1993. Make no mistake, that woman has worked her tail off for the past generation to achieve this goal and there are very, very few people in this country that can make a credible claim that they deserve this job more than she does. Bernie, on the other hand, is running for president because we literally forced him to do so against his will. He said no a thousand times before that essential spirit of true progress finally coerced him to say yes. Bernie relented because he knows this is not a campaign, this is a revolution. And this is a revolution that I am truly honored to be a part of. And as a Democrat, I feel that I owe it to all of Hillary's supporters to bare my soul to you so that even thought we strongly disagree, you will get the full explanation that you deserve.

This revolution truly frightens you. Given how the Republican Party has now become a fascist criminal organization I truly understand the fear you feel. But there is one and only one path that will lead to the defeat of fascism in the United States of America and that is the path of True Progressivism. The only time in my life that I ever cast a vote that made me feel as proud to be an American as the one I cast for Bernie yesterday was the very first vote I ever cast as a 19-year-old way back in 1990 for a man named Paul Wellstone. I was honored to do so again in 1996 and would've been doing so to this very day if not for the fact that Paul boarded a plane in October 2002 heading north and eight hours later I was crying. Those burning tears I wept back then have become the "Bern" I feel today. Myself and millions of others have taken Paul's broken wings and we have given them to Bernie. And whether he soars for two full terms or only two more months, my fellow revolutionaries and I are blessed to watch Bernie fly.

My God, how we love to watch him fly.
