Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forum"His message simply doesn't connect
with the majority of Democrats." That from a Clinton supporter today elsewhere on this board.
Unbelievable to see a statement like that on DU. If Bernie's basic message of "the system is rigged and we need to fix it and make it work for everybody" isn't a concept generally accepted by Democrats, then the party I've been supporting all these years has left me. Am I wrong? What message is supposedly favored by the majority of Democrats? It's perfectly fine to accept big money from crooks. Vote based on a candidate's gender. Vote for the one who haughtily has a dissenter removed from the room.
What am I missing? What message are Hillary voters embracing?

(15,139 posts)I am still stymied that anyone calling himself a Democrat would reject Bernie's message outright. It is so basic and simple. Who doesn't see the inequality? I know Republicans who support Bernie because they get it. Why is it so hard for "the majority" of Democrats? Or is that poster simply wrong?

(2,450 posts)They just don't believe it's possible to get it. They love what it is, they can't see how it can be done.
I'm stymied too, it's like they believe we can overcome all kinds of things, just not that thing. I don't get it.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
The poster characterizes Hillary thusly: "t's perfectly fine to accept big money from crooks. Vote based on a candidate's gender. Vote for the one who haughtily has a dissenter removed from the room." Hillary IS THE PRESUMPTIVE NOMINEE of the Democratic Party. Posts like this, at this stage of the game, are a CLEAR violation of the TOS.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Presumptive nominee? Really now. There was nothing offensive about that post, unless you consider the truth to be offensive.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Hillary is not the nominee. Stop trying to move the goalposts on the TOS. (eyeball) (double face palm)
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Alerts like these *should be* a CLEAR violation of the TOS.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Post is meant to be rude and disruptive. I am getting tired of this. Hide it and stop it.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
Two major problems with this post. First is the dissmissiveness hurled at southern Democrats simply because they overwhelmingly support Hillary. Worse than this is the following statement: "every vote for Hillary from here on out is a vote for Donald Trump." Hillary will obviously be our nominee. She does not deserve this kind of abuse and it's counterproductive- and against TOS for DU.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Sorry, can't hide this. The OP has stated opinions that are backed up by data Hillary doesn't do well against Republicans in the GE. If the alerter has data that contradicts this, then post it in thread or start a new OP to correct the information.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

(15,139 posts)protected, they should be protected from nuisance alerts by posters who aren't part of the group. I do not read posts in the Hillary group for a variety of reasons, most notably my physical and mental health, and I sure as hell don't spend my time alerting their stuff and wasting other DUers' time having to pass judgement on it. A political message board is no place for the thin skinned.

Ino
(3,366 posts)then why has Hillary co-opted it?! She's adopted most all of his positions (for now).

(1,021 posts)She's Hillary of Tarsus: "I have become all things to all people." Her supporters hear exactly whatever it is that they want to hear, and that's what they're embracing. Moderate on Wall St? Then that's what you hear from her. Tough on Wall St? That's what you hear. Want to simply defend the gains of the ACA? Hillary's your candidate. Want to move towards national healthcare? You'll hear that instead.
She's the perfect Janus/chameleon hybrid.
LibDemAlways
(15,139 posts)fond of enunciating their reasons for supporting her. Lots of cheerleading. Little substance. The post I cited is typical. Make a blanket unsupported statement critical of Bernie that adds nothing to the conversation.
If Hillary is indeed a blank slate upon which her supporters can draw whatever conclusions they wish, it doesn't bode well for her should she win the nomination. Most voters want to support a candidate with convictions - not one with finger to the wind who keeps them guessing.
