Conservative media -- particularly Fox News and Murdoch's New York Post -- have been sniping at Democrats for years over their haircuts and accusing them of hypocrisy. Some typical examples are below. But they can't lay a finger on Bernie.

A reportedly pricy haircut for Hillary Clinton has stirred social media anger, and experts say the story gives new ammunition to critics who attempt to paint the former secretary of state as a rich, out-of-touch liberal who plays by her own rules.

The New York Post reported Tuesday that the frontrunner for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination shut down a portion of the Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York City last Friday so she could get a haircut at a salon that typically charges $600 for a cut.

Clinton's campaign did not respond to a request for comment on the haircut Wednesday, and the Post acknowledges it is unknown how much Clinton actually paid, but experts and political strategists say she probably should have taken a lesson from her husband's 1993 "Hairgate" incident.

Looking pretty is costing John Edwards' presidential campaign a lot of pennies. The Democrat's campaign committee picked up the tab for two haircuts at $400 each by celebrity stylist Joseph Torrenueva of Beverly Hills, Calif., according to a financial report filed with the Federal Election Commission.

Pampering fit for a president is nothing new. Former President Bill Clinton got his locks lopped off by celebrity hairstylist Christophe.

Last summer, The Post broke the story that now-Democratic presidential front-runner Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton ponied up nearly $3,000 in campaign cash for her blond tresses to get some presidential pampering from acclaimed D.C. stylist Isabelle Goetz.

Goetz was also John Kerry’s hairstylist of choice in the buildup to his failed 2004 White House bid.

Edwards’ follicle flap is the latest uproar in his “two Americas” – the one he talks about on the campaign trail and the one in which he lives.
