I need some help I'm speaking for Bernie at the NE caucus tomorrow

I'm headed out the door, short on time. I have to be a precinct captain meeting at 6 tonight. I will be speaking for Bernie tomorrow.

I need links to the Bernie arrest photos-stories in Chicago including this weeks. Also the marching with MLK photo with Bernie circled.

My LD will start (2 PM) when most of NE is already over. As soon as the math is know it will be posted on JPR (http://jackpineradicals.org/content.php) & the DU. I have a terrible time posting on JPR on my phone. I will text Mary with the results to post on JPR. Then I'll post the two LD (legislative Districts) results from my location in this group.

Bernie's recorded message for tomorrow came in as I was writing this.

I'm feeling the Bern!

Not that Bernie didn't march, but that might not be him in the photo. It doesn't look like him, IMO.

Better to use the photo where he's chained to other protesters, or the footage of him being dragged off.

He was way in the back, so there's no good photo of him at the Washington march.

Update on the Chicago photo, WillyT posted some photos from Snopes. They were on the tending now page just now.

You're only as strong as your weakest argument and that photo is probably not legitimate. The only thing I've heard Bernie say is that he attended MLK's March on Washington. The crowd was enormous and it is very unlikely that Bernie would have gotten that close to MLK.

1) Don't be dismissive of the Democratic party. There are probably some people there who have been doing grunt work for decades and would like to be appreciated.

2) Don't tell women that it's more feminist to vote for Bernie.

3) Respect older voters, listen to their war stories if they have them.

4) Just be nice.

Seriously, I'm a diehard Hillary supporter and I'm offering you these tips in good faith, because this is what would get me to listen to a Bernie supporter at our caucus.

Oh, and it would be good if you threw in that the caucus system is not that great, it keeps many people like caregivers and nurses from participating!

I've worried about nurses, for example, but I have a friend with a severely autistic son, and between the parents and grandparents, someone has to be with him (he's 17 and can't really go with them). So in that family alone, at least 25% can't go to a caucus that requires attendance during a two-hour window.

The system does favor college students enormously, except for the cases where they occur during a school break, and then they are disproportionately left out!

I think that they are obsolete. I've participated in both. Ours this year are on Easter weekend.

Cops, firefighters and so forth. Their work schedule is pretty rigid.

Care giving is a 25/8 job.

because the nurses' union is pretty proactive and they should get to vote no matter whom they're supporting, and caregivers because in many cases it's a question of someone who just can't leave the house, even if it's not a paid job. And to my discredit, until my friend mentioned it, it frankly had not occurred to me how many people cannot leave the house because of a child or a disabled person, or an elderly relative.

perhaps you can get some ideas from this:

Colorado Caucus Speech for Bernie Sanders

It’s not that we want free stuff.
It’s not that we don’t understand economics.
And it’s not that we’re naïve about political realities.
It’s simply that the majority of young adults get their news online and the Bernie Sanders that people talk about on social media is very different from the Bernie Sanders you hear about on the 6 o’clock news.
Raise your hand if you knew that Bernie walked with Martin Luther King in the civil right movement.
Raise your hand if you’ve seen the picture of him getting arrested at the age of 22 for protesting segregation.
Keep your hands in the air if you get your news online.
That’s why we like him.
That’s why millennials flock to Bernie because in many ways, he was the original hipster, he was fighting the fight “before it was cool”.
We respect that.
We trust him.
Bernie is authentic.
He doesn’t have to change who he is to make himself more likeable.
We know that he was fighting for gay rights in the 80’s before anyone else was.
We know he voted against the Iraq war.
We know over 200 leading economists have endorsed his policies.
We know he has the highest approval rating of any senator or member of Congress.
We know he has over 30 years of experience in elected office, if that isn’t experience, I don’t know what is.
We know that in August, 28,000 people showed up in Portland to see him speak at a rally and there was no media coverage of the event what-so-ever from mainstream media.
We know that in matchup polls, Bernie beats all the top republicans in a landslide while Hillary loses to all of them except for Donald Trump who only wins by a small margin.
That should scare you!
So, people tell me that she is more qualified and can get things done.
I personally believe there is a difference between getting things done and making progress.
Hillary Clinton is the most qualified candidate for the political system we currently have but Bernie Sanders is the most qualified candidate to build the system that we should have.
Because right now politicians have more loyalty to the people who fund their campaigns than the people they are supposed to represent.
And that is the issue at the heart of this campaign.
It is not the single issue.
But it is the foundational issue that is necessary to achieving all other progressive goals, including Hillary Clintons.
Because we are never going to enact radical climate change legislation as long as the fossil fuel industry is spending $1.8 billion a year to convince politicians that climate change isn't real.
I'm sorry, I don't believe Hillary Clinton is going to reign in Wall Street as long as 4 out of 5 of her top campaign donors are banks.
She has a conflict of interest.
Most countries would call this corruption, we call it lobbying and it is completely legal.
When I look at Bernie Sanders, I don't see a 73 year old politician, I see a 22 year old activist.
Not unlike myself, who knows that leadership is about purpose, not position.
And that activism has given me a reason to believe in the impossible because he's already doing it.
It was supposed to be impossible to overtake a 56 point lead but we're doing it.
It was supposed to be impossible to run a campaign without a super PAC but we're doing it.
(Guy on stage shuts her off, booing erupts)
You have a choice to make. You have a choice.
Don't tell me it's impossible to put the power back into the hands of the people.
It's not impossible.
To older Bernie supporters: You rock. I promise, as a young person, to step up my game. Colorado and Minnesota show us the way.

I think you should. You could tie it to Bernie's stance of
health care as a right etc. Just my .02. I think people react
to personal stories.

Human interest story--about how Bernie drove a bus load of senior citizens across the
border into Canada to purchase Rx drugs. It cost 1/10 less there than in the US! You
can "google" this story for more details. I think all seniors should be informed or reminded
about how action-oriented Bernie is and this is a good example of how he will fight to help us!
I am sure there are a lot more "war stories" about Bernie that you can gather. I think they
will resonate more with people and leave a deep impression on their minds. Bernie is a
real-life legend and the real deal!
