Guess Who Wasn’t Invited to Tonight’s Democratic Debate in Flint

Flint residents interested in hearing Democratic candidates’ plans for dealing with their poisoned water at tonight’s debate may have to watch from home. That’s because CNN and the DNC have released no tickets to the general public.

Area residents scrambled to try to find information on how to get tickets to tonight’s debate.

“We’ve been getting a lot of calls with questions about how to get tickets to Sunday’s debate, but at this point it looks like no tickets will be given out to the public without an invitation,” said Natalie Zarowny, a journalist at Flint’s ABC affiliate.

Hillary Clinton has made the crisis a major campaign issue by holding events in Flint last month, and saying that the crisis was “unconscionable” and that “every single American should be outraged.” Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz echoed Clinton on the importance of Flint’s crisis, “This debate is an opportunity to elevate the very serious issues facing the residents of Flint.”

Yet, despite the Clinton and Schultz’s rhetoric, it seems the people of Flint will once again be neglected and locked out of the debate.

I guess this means tickets went to the Democratic Establishment. Which means everybody will be cheering for Hillary.

What matters is what's broadcast in real time. Perception is reality. So if everyone in the audience is establishment, that will be a manufactured, but prevailing, perception.

At least they will have someplace warm to go, and watch. I know the local media will cover the UofM party, but, of course, the national won't.

But there are "regular" people there, too. A friend of my brother got a ticket. The Whiting is a BIG venue so I suspect it isn't going to be just a manufactured audience. Of course, I could be wrong. I'll know more when I see the audience shots. We 'Flintstones' recognize our own.

This may be the final straw. It is so blatantly corrupt. I mean they don't even try to hide it anymore. Corporations and scum bags have taken over. They are alienating millions of people. My fear is we are heading to a reality of super rich and super poor. If anyone studies history, this type of environment is a recipe for disaster. The poor grow tired and angry and eventually rise up. I don't want that for my children. I hate what our party is doing. Being a democrat is starting to hurt.

I think it's actually been more like 30 years that they've been leaving us (and rapidly accelerating since the mid 90s), but yes, on all other counts I have to agree. Our planet itself can't handle much more of what they're pushing; the fracking, oil spills, methane leaks, biodiversity loss, ocean dead zones, out of control climate change....IT HAS TO STOP!

who feel this way. TOTALLY FED UP, The Clintons and The Hierarchy aren't fooling anyone! Most think Hillary has actually lost some states that they've said she won.

There is NO TRUST and now a growing white hot anger! I know how I feel and it ain't good. I wrote a letter today in RED LETTERS to the DSCC, DNC & my State Dem Party telling them how I feel and to make sure to get my name of any lists Asking For A Donation! They won't be getting $$ from this house as long as they're ignoring WE THE PEOPLE!

This "thing" is building and they can ignore it all they want, Hillary may get her wish, BUT she will have ruined The Democratic Party. I find it hard to believe that the Party as a whole hasn't picked up on this growing anger because IT IS EVERYWHERE! And it's growing.

THIS time we won't be MADE TO HEEL!

Still working, thanks to Bernie's campaign, to do this within the party, against all odds and against every bit of the party establishment.

But us Sanders supporters are serious. The party has to represent us, not corporations, or we'll be forced to make a new party. The better outcome would be for us to succeed in retaking the Democratic Party.

They sure aren't making it easy, they'll fight us every inch of the way, with billions of dollars and an entrenched media establishment on their side. We have the truth on our side, amplified by the urgency of war, poverty and climate change.

I can't wait to see what comes after the Sanders campaign, this movement will morph, either as an empowered new wing of the party or as a competing external entity.

I keep pushing for the Progressive Caucus (which Bernie co-founded) to change its rules, allowing no candidates in their caucus who accept corporate money. They could. with our help, and maybe that of some of the large progressive NGO's (MoveOn, PDA. etc), provide an alternative people-funded campaign financing infrastructure to allow progressives to actually govern as progressives by making sure they owe no favors to corporate America.

And when she gets the nomination she'll move hard to the right and if she wins she'll support TPP, appoint Goldman Sachs cronies to her cabinet, a neo-con to secretary of war and VP and ignore the concerns of those who voted for her until 2020.

Any wonder the party has veered strongly to the right since the Clintons gained prominence? As far as I can see, they are just Bush Light.

to impoverished residents dealing with a lifetime of medical problems for their children caused by the business aspirations of political leadership who wanted to sell Flint's shitty water system to a corporations who would then jack up rates and cut service even more to make a killing.

Luckily because of the blight, there will be lots of criminal activity and Hillary can profit again from her various associations in the private prison systems.

As businesses shut down, Hillary can profit again from the corporations like Walmart who off shore to India and China.

She's a rebel.

So there's that.

Did anyone else hear Hillary say she had attended that woman's church when the woman described how her congregation prayed in the church?

What was that about?

Did I hear wrong?

My husband heard what I heard. We wonder who selected that woman to ask a question and why and whether there was some collusion with the candidates in selecting people to ask questions.

That seemed very odd to me.
