How do people get into debate halls?

I was watching CNN debate and heard Hillary say that the mothers of the black victims of police and guns were with her. So, who does get into these debate halls? I can't help but think questioning is often soft-balled to Hillary and sometimes these halls seem packed for Hillary. Since I'm a Bernie fan, guess I'm wondering what others think?

prepared questions.

I've been happy with a couple of the debates. The Univision was GREAT because they gave the candidates real hardball questions. I'd LOVE to see the Republicans get stumped with some of those.
