Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumThe shit is going to hit the fan about Arizona. The Arizona Republic, a right wing rag -is all over
the crap that is going on in this state.
1. They called BS on calling the winners before people were done voting.
2. Video tape of voters being told to go home.
3. We know about people not being able to vote.
4. One polling place for every 21,000 voters
Let the Hillary supporters laugh & call this a conspiracy theory but HER VOTERS where effected as well. She may have lost a handful of delegates tonite as well. When you sign in to vote in a democratic primary, they do not know which Dem you are voting for.

Massive provisional ballots + reduced polling places + call the win before people can vote = BIG TROUBLE
SHAME ON YOU, AZ!

(15,480 posts)The whole process could be different in Arizona. But here in Pennsylvania, where I'm a judge of elections for my ward and district, and in that capacity oversee provisional ballots, here's how it works.
Provisional ballots are paper ballots, to be filled out by hand. They are not voted on a voting machine.
If an individual is not listed in the official register I am provided, which lists all registered voters in my ward and district, or is a first time voter at that ward and district, but without the required ID, that individual is not allowed to vote on a voting machine, but can opt to sit in a private area of my polling place and fill out, by hand, a provisional (paper) ballot. As judge, I seal that ballot in an individual, numbered, envelope and give the individual a receipt with a matching number, and written instructions telling the individual he/she may phone the county Board of Elections in several days to determine whether their ballot was "accepted", i.e., whether their vote was counted in the final total.
After the polls close, I put all the envelopes containing individual provisional ballots into a master envelope and turn it in to the county, along with all my voluminous other paperwork.
Bottom line, each paper, provisional ballot has to be individually reviewed and checked by county officials, which is very time consuming. If the number of voted, provisional ballots is less than the winning margin of the machine votes, they are not reviewed and counted at all.
If the election is so close that the number of voted, provisional ballots is more than the winning margin. the provisional ballots are reviewed and, if they pass the review, counted.
One possible outcome - county personnel look through their own records and find the individual was mistakenly listed in the wrong party by the county when they compiled the register. In that case, the provisional ballot would be accepted.
Other times, people are mistaken and went to the wrong polling place, or perhaps had moved into a new ward and district and failed to update that info with the county elections office. Those provisional ballots are not counted.
I have found it rare to have someone vote on a provisional ballot - many elections, there are none. Others, only 1 or 2.
Arizona's election sounds like one huge clusterfuck on the part of the campaign officials.

(20,998 posts)...long lunches to go vote. ALMOST ALL OF THEM came back without voting because they could not afford to stand in line for ANOTHER 90 TO 120 MINUTES.
I have also personally spoken with no less than FIVE PERSONS here at work who are Democrats, have been for some time, and voted the last time they voted as a Democrat, and are now either listed as Independents or Republicans.
Yes, something very smelly is going on in Arizona.

(175 posts)And thank you for acknowledging that Clinton voters were affected too.
The only conspiracy people are "laughing at," is the one where the AZ Democratic party (or Clinton campaign) is somehow held responsible for the mess.

I'm not being a sore loser.
But there seems to be massive voter suppression throughout this country.
MrMickeysMom
(20,453 posts)And fuck anyone who tells you this has nothing to do with the MASSIVE crowds gathering for Bernie Sanders as his national metrics shows another likely outcome if they were given a fair chance.
All the shit that's happened to only minority voters is now happening to all voters who seek the same things all these years that PoC have been telling us we ALL deserved.
I have had enough, Pharaoh and I live in Pennsylvania which hasn't voted yet, but is a swing state.
Pharaoh
(8,209 posts)Wisconsin here. Big swing state.
I live in Madison which is like 80% Bernie given the yard signs and bumper stickers.
Our primary is April 5th, I voted early today.
No matter what happens, I hope it is contested and this goes to the convention.
Theres just too much corrupt fucked up shit going on.
If we had any kind of a media in this country it would be so fucking obvious!
