(2,125 posts)Thank goodness Bernie's message caught fire. OTOH, if she cheats her way to the nomination, which appears very possible, she has no cross-over appeal like Trump does.

(3,040 posts)Clinton has reached peak supporters. As scary as it is, Clinton may have more supporters among the democrats than Sanders, but she has less support amongst independents -- which she needs to win over to win the GE. But, she isn't winning over any new voters & the independents are a wild card. Because, if and when she pivots back to the center, she loses any chance of winning over Sanders independents & but also loses with right leaning independents.
If Trump makes a sharp turn towards the center in the GE, which he most likely will, he may be able to win over significant independent votes. More importantly, after 30 years of GOP attacks on Hillary, there will be very few middle of the road conservatives that will vote for her. This is a real concern that needs to be addressed, rather than just saying Hillary will win with little trouble.
I hope to God I am wrong.

(3,660 posts)you see all the loyalty posts here - which are probably resulting from some "news" stories from propaganda outlets like Blue Nation Review, or talking points triggering their need.
Her only other pool of voter is the one scared of Trump enough to hold their nose and pull the lever for her. To try to get those, she's going to tack hard right as soon as possible to make it easier for them to stomach.

(3,040 posts)I 100% agree. Just to add: that is why Sanders needs to stay in the race to keep her to the left, and, I believe, that is why the Hillary camp is really calling him to leave the race. They know she can't shift right to the center with Sanders in the race & they believe that she needs to make that shift ASAP to win those voters -- which she never will. Hillary will just end up alienating the left independent voters.

(2,398 posts)I know Sanders has a much better like/dislike rating, but I'm curious what the latest numbers are. I just followed that link and I didn't see any question about that, although there were other Sanders related questions.

About the poll, it is odd if they deemed Sanders important enough to ask people how he'd fare against Trump and the other Republicans, and yet not important enough to ask about his like/dislike numbers.
