For instance, they may be primarily interested in electing the first woman president as long as she's a Democrat. In that case, nothing else really matters, no policy, no character issues, nothing.

Everyone is different and sees their goals and needs differently. Our interests are unique to us. What we see as screwed up priorities, a Hillary supporter sees as good for them.

"That's what they offered" to a question regarding accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in speaking fees from corrupt bankers is not exactly a person in touch with the struggles of ordinary citizens.

An old friend of mine was a Democrat and a Union man. He had a saying about Republicans and that was that he never understood one of them as he'd never known one yet that "had a god damned thing".

So right he was eh? What they "have" is stuff that no one else wants or they are too idiotic to realize that what they have is nothing even worth having, like a tRump!

& recommend!!

Rural North Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee friends I have can state their interests pretty clearly. They are not DUs interests and in general the R is more in their interest.

The summary is they want to be left alone. They can all tell you (right or wrong) why their hospital and car repair shop shut down and the closest is 40 miles away. And why the last manufacturing plant moved and they can't even make a few bucks selling raw milk to willing buyers who understand the risk. They get money in return (social safety net) but don't like it.

I can't come up with a D policy that they think will help them. Rs won't help either but "smaller govt" policy will hurt less and that's what Rs campaign on.

You project the positive qualities you like about yourself on others. For example I have always paid my own way so when X politician says people need to pull themselves up by their bootstraps by golly that describes me in my struggles. Never mind the perception about yourself is false you actually had a lot of assistance in your success.

is that they don't like taxes and they think all their taxes are
going to people on welfare. Some of them are government workers!!!
I try to explain to them that their salary comes from taxes but they refuse
to listen. Or maybe they work for a corporation but the payments come
from clients who pay by Medi-Cal. Maybe they receive SS or Medicare.
I had one Trumpie tell me that with all that money she paid in over
the years she could have saved it and done a lot better with it.
Looking at this woman I knew it wasn't true. She would have spent it
or lost it trying to invest it (which I highly doubt). I could go on and on.
