Something significant about Clinton that we can appreciate....

Last edited Wed Jun 8, 2016, 06:53 PM - Edit history (3)

The very policy & character issues that make her, in our collective view, destructive to what we value, helped to vividly set Bernie apart. The depth and breadth of her embodiment of what we view as dangers to the justice and values Bernie enumerated in his speech last night ironically helped create a movement coalesced around calling out and pushing back against those very real dangers.

The movement is necessary to prevent the continued takeover of our government by moneyed/corporate interests - siphoning our tax dollars, crafting policies that suit them at the expense of society and environment, ginning up "profitable" wars etc. Against a less starkly "in the pocket" candidate, the movement wouldn't have gained the intensity and traction that it has...

Perhaps Bernie chose to run not just *for* president, but *against her* as the perfect foil for illuminating the public about the need for action, to avoid continuous mission creep by both rethug and dem- entrenched, nefarious political hackers. Had Biden been the establishment candidate, our passion for justice, etc. would have been less intense. The intensity has driven the message much farther.

Your thoughts about this...?

re: bernie's mtg with obama - tomorrow -
the msm is saying it is because now bernie is negotiating with obama regarding party platform issues. which, may be true... but, doubt bernie is speaking with obama regarding this "smokescreen". i'm wondering if it is to discuss either a biden/sanders ticket or suggestions from bernie for a different vp - such as merkely or nina or ellison - or other sanders surrogate.
