🐦 Bernie Sanders coming to Charleston West Virginia on Feb. 12
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, an independent from Vermont who ran for president in the Democratic primary last spring, will be in Charleston in a couple of weeks.
Sanders will be promoting a new book on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Charleston Municipal Auditorium.
Tickets are $27 and include a copy of the book. Tickets go on sale Wednesday at Charlestons Taylor Books, which is hosting the event, according to Dan Carlisle, Taylor Books manager. People can also call Taylor Books at 304-342-1461.
A Facebook event promoting the appearance was created by a group called West Virginia for Bernie Sanders. More than 600 people had said on Facebook they would attend as of this afternoon.
The capacity for the Municipal Auditorium is 2,200 people, Carlisle said.
Weve reserved 2,200 and we are undecided as to whether if we sell 2,200 were going to open up the balcony, he said.
Sanders will speak about the book and take questions submitted in advance, organizers say. People can submit questions to question@taylorbooks.com.
He will not be signing books. A limited number of books will be signed in advance.
Tracey Guest, a spokeswoman for St. Martins Press, said Sanders will not be doing interviews.
Carlisle said he was told Sanders was already planning to be in town for another reason.
Guest said she was only involved in book related events and that she didnt know what other reason Sanders has for visiting the area.*
Sanders received 51.4 percent of the vote in West Virginias Democratic primary in May, besting eventual nominee Hillary Clinton, who got 35.8 percent of the vote.
His book, Our Revolution: A Future To Believe In, was published on Nov. 15, a week after the election that saw Clinton defeated by Republican Donald Trump.
