Former presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders will come to Covington on Sunday to lead a rally in support of the Affordable Care Act.
It will cap a day of protest in Covington against the Republican health care bill. Before Sanders' speech, several protest and social justice groups will stage a rally across the Roebling Suspension Bridge from 1:30 p.m. - 3 p.m. Called "Bridging the Gap for Healthcare Rally," demonstrators will link hands across the bridge, said Connie Grubbs, a Fort Thomas resident involved in the event and a member of the executive committee of the Campbell County Democrats.
So will a rally with Sanders actually change any minds? Grubbs hopes so.
"I hope with the increased visibility, that will show we are in solidarity across state lines and that we are in this fight together," Grubbs said. "I hesitate to use the word fight. We're all in this together. It is all the people in the nation, not just Democrats."
