In social dynamics, critical mass is a sufficient number of adopters of an innovation in a social system so that the rate of adoption becomes self-sustaining and creates further growth. It is an aspect of the theory of diffusion of innovations, written extensively on by Everett Rogers in his book Diffusion of Innovations.[1] The term is borrowed from nuclear physics and in that field it refers to the amount of a substance needed to start a chain reaction.
Social factors influencing critical mass may involve the size, interrelatedness and level of communication in a society or one of its subcultures. Another is social stigma, or the possibility of public advocacy due to such a factor.
Critical mass and the theories behind it help us to understand aspects of humans as they act and interact in a larger social setting. Certain theories, such as Mancur Olson's Logic of Collective Action[9] or Garrett Hardin's Tragedy of the Commons,[10] work to help us understand why humans do or adopt certain things which are beneficial to them, or, more importantly, why they do not. Much of this reasoning has to do with individual interests trumping that which is best for the collective whole, which may not be obvious at the time.

Scientists Discover Tipping Point for the Spread of Ideas -
Scientists at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute have found that when just 10 percent of the population holds an unshakable belief, their belief will always be adopted by the majority of the society. The scientists, who are members of the Social Cognitive Networks Academic Research Center (SCNARC) at Rensselaer, used computational and analytical methods to discover the tipping point where a minority belief becomes the majority opinion. The finding has implications for the study and influence of societal interactions ranging from the spread of innovations to the movement of political ideals.
When the number of committed opinion holders is below 10 percent, there is no visible progress in the spread of ideas. It would literally take the amount of time comparable to the age of the universe for this size group to reach the majority, said SCNARC Director Boleslaw Szymanski, the Claire and Roland Schmitt Distinguished Professor at Rensselaer. Once that number grows above 10 percent, the idea spreads like flame.
As an example, the ongoing events in Tunisia and Egypt appear to exhibit a similar process, according to Szymanski. In those countries, dictators who were in power for decades were suddenly overthrown in just a few weeks.
The findings were published in the July 22, 2011, early online edition of the journal Physical Review E in an article titled Social consensus through the influence of committed minorities.
An important aspect of the finding is that the percent of committed opinion holders required to shift majority opinion does not change significantly regardless of the type of network in which the opinion holders are working. In other words, the percentage of committed opinion holders required to influence a society remains at approximately 10 percent, regardless of how or where that opinion starts and spreads in the society.

Think about it.
Sanders has more that 175,000 people who have joined his campaign.
By the end of June, if each gets one person to join we are 350,000.
If all people who join will find one other each month that can keep adding to the total...
By August 700,000
September 1.4 Million
October 2.8 Million
November 5.6 million
December more than 10 million...
Six months of finding just one more person each who will work for Bernie Sander 2016.
What happens in six more months!!!
January 20 million
February 40 million
March 80 million
That is more that has ever voted for any president.
Just find one person that will do the same each month - Get to work
