The article is about the battle of the government-subsidized egg industry against upstart egg-less "mayonnaise" producer Hampton Creek's "Just Mayo" brand - which, by the way, tastes better than Hellman's/Best Foods. Anyway, in the body of the article describing paid bloggers pushing the benefits of eggs, etc, are these relevant lines (bolding mine):
...
In late 2013, a representative for the PR firm Edelman alerted board executives that Hampton Creek had "just engaged with us directly on Twitter" to challenge it to a bakeoff. The representative advised the board to keep close tabs on reactions to the post but not to respond.
That was in line with previous advice from an Edelman executive, who compared the situation to a political campaign, where real eggs are the incumbent or "800 lb. gorilla" and Hampton Creek is the insurgent. He said engaging would help legitimize Hampton Creek.
"Can you imagine Hillary Clinton today agreeing to a debate to a little known, left-wing member of her party?" the PR executive wrote.

And there you have it - the reason for no early debates and the strictly curtailed number of debates. HRC and the DNC are hoping that the massive, growing purple wave of Bernie's supporters will crash too early if they just ignore him and us.
Fat chance!

(14,255 posts)In other news, I think that the eggs in mayonnaise are better for me than the soybean oil.
Looking for recipes that use coconut oil or some other oil that is not soy or corn or canola.

(2,968 posts)Seems to be the corporate media's strategy also. In bed with Hillary Clinton?

(16,402 posts)Tried various oils and oil blends, as well as different egg substitutes (trying to go mostly vegan). Most of my efforts were okay but not great. Coconut oil, even in a blend, wasn't one of my great successes - but I also didn't have refined coconut oil, so the slight coconutty taste ruined the overall effect. Then "Just Mayo" came along and I fell in love.
Hampton Creek has come out with a couple of flavored versions of Just Mayo, so maybe next they'll do one with olive oil or something. The canola oil they use now is non-GMO, though, so I'm fine with it. I use healthier oils in other ways, so it's not a big deal.
But back to business...
Hill's in for a surprise come debate time, methinks. Bernie is more than ready to debate the issues. Also, his refusal to engage in personal attacks is a perfect way to keep her subtle (or not so subtle) nasty streak in line. She'll come across as a complete ass compared to him if she does try to play dirty.

(14,255 posts)I don't think it is a good idea to legitimize any of them. Have to ponder.

There is no end to corporate/industry greed.

(16,402 posts)Unfortunately, you're absolutely right about greed, both personal and corporate, among so many.
I'm soooooo sick of it!
