Bernie Sanders
Related: About this forumI did not mean to trash Bernie supporters!
sorry about a very poorly-worded hidden recent post - my intention was to trash the thought process that would find "either Trump or Sanders" the favored candidate. To me, comparing them in any way is ridiculous. I blame it on fatigue; people who know me are aware that while I am no "Bernista" (I detest any fanboy stuff), I do like Bernie. A simple follow-up comment or question would have shown that. Yes indeed.

(17,796 posts)I prefer "Sandernista" myself.
I'm still open for the Dem candidate - am interested in the debates - although I lost all respect for Hillary when she voted for IWR; she has never explained that to my satisfaction (to be honest, I do not see how she could). But I would vote for her if she was the nominee. Yup.

(45,251 posts)that I have an excellent impression of your posting in general. Based on that, I will gratefully accept your apology if that makes you feel better, but I would not question your good faith, even if you did not apologize.

(568 posts)The only thing they share is a disgust with mainstream political leaders, it ends there.
I'm reminded of the years that majorities elected Jesse Ventura and Arnold Schwarzenegger as governors.
That year in California both major party candidates sucked, and Arnold made it in.
This year, nationally, people are tired of all politicians, and both parties have abysmal approval ratings.
Clinton has people rolling their eyes and the GOP clown car is just as disappointing to anyone expecting fresh solutions that will lift the middle class.
Trump and Sanders both offer relief from that same broadly felt disgust, but in very different ways.
I saw your hidden reply last night, and I thought oh there she went!

(568 posts)In the case of Trump, it's probably a bad thing.
My point is that Trump is attracting support because the idiots THINK he'll provide relief.
Of course, he won't.

(12,041 posts)I did not think it seemed like you at all to go after Bernie supporters as a whole, I figured you were only talking about the ones that support both Bernie and Trump. As a Bernie supporter myself I can't possibly understand how anyone could view him as being similar to Trump, they are polar opposites.

Whatever it was, this is much appreciated.

(4,879 posts)I'm pretty confident that no Bernie supporter alerted on you.
I am sorry to see that anyone on DU would try to shut down your voice.
Kick ass.

(152,964 posts)but why someone cannot just ask a followup question is beyond me - that mystifies me as much as the people who think Trump and Sanders are comparable
