LMAO-Noam Chomsky on the ludicrousness of the term "avowed socialist" and other political jargon

Chomsky speaks to the citizens of Burlington, VT. The Mayor's accent is stronger than that of Senator Sanders, but I think you'll suss out who he is, anyway.

(I am beginning to realize where and when Chomsky got the idea for his current hair do.)

I've read and viewed and participated in so many things that are about defining our problems, "raising consciousness" or whatever. Yet, basic societal problems have not changed all that dramatically since Julius Caesar. We can find lots of pithy, "nailed it" definitional statements pinpointing those problems. Damned few suggestions for action that actually have a prayer of working, though.

"Contact your Senators" or "please sign this internet petition to the White House" is about all we get. I don't consider those things actions that have a prayer of working, though, at least not beyond getting our names on more mailing lists so we can get solicited for donations.

Sorry. None of this is about you. As I said, it's a personal frustration that your excellent quote just happened to trigger. My apologies. It is a great quote.
