My Bernie Sanders Antenna Topper

Be kind, I had to made it myself since I couldn't find any. I thought it came out pretty good but my son guessed it was Einstein. Same hair, I guess but no mustache and glasses.

His hair even glows in the dark. Hard to see here but it does:

1. Very cool. Please elaborate some on how you made it, just in case people want to copy your idea.

I tried a few methods. Since it had t0 be light in case it accidentally flew off the car, I used the following 2 methods. (I didn't want Bernie breaking any windows cause I am sure I would have read about how Bernie supporters were vandalizing in GDP.)

The one pictured was made with a styrofoam ball covered with a white balloon (any vinyl would do but a balloon is easiest, just cut the mouth piece off and slip it over). Make a pencil sized hole in the styrofoam ball, put some glue in the hole ( I used E6000, an industrial strength glue that didn't melt the styrofoam and set quickly) and tuck the cut portion of the balloon inside. Use flesh tone acrylic paint to paint over the balloon. I used fuzzy pipe cleaner for the hair and used a polyurethane spray and a glow spray (after everything was dry). I already had the glasses from a stick on set made for 3d cards.

I made some others using air dry clay (Delight purchased at Michaels but it is white and needs painting too or Model Magic found in the kids section which already has a flesh colored product and you can just use a white one for the hair. I used a small toothed comb on the clay for the hair to make it look a bit wild. Add some gold wire for glasses (glue on with the same glue mentioned above) and spray polyurethane and glow paint if desired. To make this idea cheaper (the clay is a bit costly, I used the styrafoam balls and covered them with the clay.)

I really like the light air dry clay ones but they are still drying. The Styrofoam balloon covered ones are the quickest, easiest and cheapest to make though neither is expensive.

ETA: I am obviously not an expert at this. I just really wanted an antenna and couldn't find one so I experimented. One might find even better ideas on line but I was limited on time so just went to the craft store and bought what I thought might work. Though, I did find enough time to find the balloon idea from a little girl on you tube showing how to make a pumpkin topper for Halloween. Maybe I will make one of those too.

By the way, I have since found out you can make your own air dry clay from videos on you tube. Just make sure you make a light one, just in case it fly's off (we wouldn't want it to hit a Hillary supporter).

4. I actually tested everything in water before I finished it so I think it will stand up.

No guarantees of course but I let each item used sit in water for quite a while before and after the sprays. By the way, I updated my last post with some more info you might be interested in.

I used the polyurethane as an additional protection although the balloon and pipe cleaner should be fine alone. The clay version stood up to the water pretty well too even better after I sprayed it but it did great after the spraying.

Einstein was in favor of socialism and in opposition to capitalism, as illustrated by the following quote: "I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

I am definitely not the business type. But, I would be happy if someone took the idea and made a sell-able one. And, I would be happy to give you one if you would really like one of these.
