for the first time i thought he might win this thing. if he can get a crowd like this on a sunday night in NC this early on - what's to stop him?!
i've been on the fence - sort of. i have donated to bernie and only bernie. i got my bernie sticker in the mail but did not put it on my car (yet). I am determined that a democrat must take the presidency. I will vote for the democrat and of that there is no doubt. so i guess i have just hesitated to get so invested that if he does not win the primary i'll be heartbroken. i think that's it. and the rancor on DU between the hillary and bernie camps distresses me, a lot.
but this is really exciting.

I wonder how many of their parents have been voting Republican all these years.

This could signal a major change in the politics of our country.

They are going to put it online shortly. I'll grab it and post it either tonight or tomorrow. Local NC TV Station (WRAL...they are Libs) put the whole thing on line at Bernie You Tube...where I watched the speech.

That speech was INCREDIBLE...he even blew the "Family Values Repubs" out of their cozy nest with WHY they IN NO WAY support Any Kind of "Family Values"...but the whole Speech Rocked...and one of his best ever and he was "into it" because the crowd was so enthusiastic.

I haven't seen this kind of enthusiasm from a crowd since Obama ran and was at his peak where people were practically fainting at what he was saying. Bernie is building on Obama and Making the Language of Change and REAL HOPE go further.

It was so heartening to see and hear him. And he never once mentioned his Background with his parents Refugees and how he grew up with his Brother in Brooklyn in a 3 BR Apt...or anything else like Hillary has been doing with going on about her "Mother who had to work as (GASP) a "House Maid."

Not to diss Hillary but most politicians in the Dem Party (yes, true of some Repubs, also) always try to relate to Their Pasts in giving a speech. But, Bernie didn't do that he SPOKE ABOUT THE FUTURE OF AMERICA and ITS CITIZENS!

That was refreshing! He seems to know that those young people there in that audience (if they care and were impressed by his speech) know how to Use a Search Engine to find out where Bernie comes from and he didn't need to pound them on the head about that.

IDEAS for CHANGE come FIRST with BERNIE....and forget about him spending useless time on HIS Struggles growing up...which he won't use to win votes. And, that, alone is admirable given the vain use by all political candidates to exploit how they grew up or even embellish their identity with what the Dem Party (used to stand for with Working People) for their future use in Campaign.

Bernie is the Real Deal!

He understands it's about us, not about him.

The funny thing about Bernie is that he cuts through all the traditional "image" advice that comes from the political consultants. He does it by just sticking to the topic at hand, which is how the country needs to change. It's just amazing how this works, not to mention that all that donation money can go to reaching out to citizens instead of to political consultants.

I recall a republican relative donated to McCain, and shortly thereafter, Sarah Palin treated herself to an expensive jacket and put it on her campaign expense account. I remarked to my relative that his $350 donation helped fund that jacket.

On another thread, I learned Hillary spent $815,000 with a political consultant. Lotta' good that did.

And yes, at the early marches, the crowds were mostly white. I really hope Bernie and Reverend Barber work together.

There is a lot of frustration in NC since Rs took over in 2010. Low wages, dying rural areas, no Medicaid expansion, Rs fucking with voting rights, womens' rights, taxes etc. This state is RIPE for Bernie Sanders. I imagine he'd have greater appeal to the nearly 2 million unaffiliated voters, rather than Hillary, the establishment candidate.

I LOVE this pic:

Out bustin' their butts everyday, not having cocktails with the $2,700/plate crowd.
