(2,968 posts)Guess I need to check around a little more!
Now I'm thinking of buying this magazine if I can
find it.

(41,102 posts)not to worry about posting here what's in GD, GD-P and other Main Sections I don't think.
You've been doing a tremendous job, thanks much! Hope you find some time for respite and R & R too!

(41,102 posts)You can't find a TIME around my area hardly anywhere anymore, but I'll see if I can catch one of the 3 copies at the CVS.

(45,251 posts)If you can buy the mag maybe you can give us a couple of choice lines from the article.
I am not thrilled that socialist is in imprinted on Bernie on the front cover, not even Democratic Socialist, but what the hell? We may as well tear off that bandaid in one motion.
appalachiablue
(41,102 posts)but his supporters with signs at the recent rally in Manassas, Va. wouldn't do for the establishment. At least the local NOVA News (?) publication article on this event that posted here used the term *'Democratic Socialist' for Bernie, which I was pleased to see and rarely have.
(I think Bernie looks great in his usual blue work shirt, don't care for the casual green one on the cover which might have been deliberately selected, who knows...).
Or something like this one for a US Senator also running for president. Put me in charge of TIME's cover division!

(45,251 posts)he certainly hasn't had plastic surgery or fillers. So, we are comparing Bernie as he actually looks with the Time cover photo. Even his smile looks a little mean.
I think they photoshopped and used a few other tricks.

(41,102 posts)and endurance of men half his age! In HS he played B.ball, was on the track team and as I heard him reply quietly to an interview question, in his youth he was a long distance runner. Indeed!
Larry, Bernie's older brother in Oxford who's active with the Green Party is 80 and going strong.
Checked online just now, same. Can't wait for Ben Carson and Kasich!

(45,251 posts)his skin color much darker than it is, etc. Just in case anyone forgot he was not all white.
Good job with the Trump cover, ab. You made your point beautifully.

(41,102 posts)could refer to his firm stance in the image, as in attitude, or maybe try to socialize this!...the yellow, green Alien!! I've seen ill adults and infants with jaundice less yellow than this. If I let it, this could wind me up all day but time for a walk and the grocer.
Even before the Trump cover photo, I've noticed the resemblance of T's EYES to Pigs! Small and crinkly. Perhaps tender, raw and pink from so much cosmetic surgery. Blah, blah.
Actually many pigs are very intelligent and affectionate (and I'm a vegetarian). Unfortunately, Trump's not in their category.
JC, when will we get some Dems. and Bernie MEDIA, all day and night it's the damn GOP debate idiots!

(45,251 posts)I have no problem with cosmetic work, one way or the other. I am only confirming your impression.
appalachiablue
(41,102 posts)cosmetic surgery either. In her 40s my sister developed very fine lines all on her face (not from age), that really bothered her. I hardly noticed until she mentioned it. She thought it was maybe from living in dry AZ a few years. But I think her RA meds were a factor but didn't suggest that (she's doesn't talk about the condition and has a temper and wrath that can trigger like a volcano).
After she had some comprehensive peel procedure with serious bandaging, the lines were ALL gone, completely, and her skin looked totally natural and healthy not 'raw' or 'done'. Even though fair she healed well too, impressive. I'm a chicken, bawk! when it comes to gen. anesthesia.
Pooches are antsy. See ya soon!
merrily
(45,251 posts)Sure anesthesia can do you in, but I never focus on that and it's never happened to me. Recovery, however, hurts like anything. Been there done that (not cosmetic, but general surgery), got the frequent flyer miles from Mass. General Hospital. I'm not looking for more surgery of any kind.
Just realized: They made Bernie's skin darker too. Was more Semitic-looking the goal there?

(39,215 posts)his supporters are workers who understand rolled up sleeves and could care less about the color.
And at least this is one part of the media who cares about getting the message out there. That is assuming they actually right a good story. If they do not we need to counter it by writing letters to their editorial page.
And as we are seeing the word socialist is not getting the big bang that opponents think it will.
So until we see the inside story let us assume this is good news.

(45,251 posts)background noise. Besides, the McCarthy era was a long, long time ago. I doubt many Millennials are more worried about "creeping socialism" than about school loans, the environment, etc.

(2,968 posts)grocery stores, I finally went down the hill to Barnes and Noble.
They had Time magazines however they were dated 9/21. This magazine is dated
9/28. I bought the Mother Jones magazine with Bernie in granite (Mount Rushmore).
I asked the cashier when the Bernie cover was coming out. She figured about next Wednesday
the 23rd. I will be heading to my dad's on that date but hopefully will find it somewhere.

(18,791 posts)That is exactly what I was coming to ask about!
I'm actually off on Wednesday and will make a drive to our mega mall where there is a Barnes and Noble.
I looked today at a grocery, Rite Aid and CVS but none had any Time.

(18,791 posts)I feel so priveledged...
I had checked to see if there were Time magazines at Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid or Haggen...none.
Decided that Barnes and Noble was the best bet (someone here mentioned it)...called this morning and yes, they had them. So made a drive to our mega mall B&N (Del Amo Mall, Torrance, CA).
So if you want one, you might call and see in your area if they have them or some other large news stand place.
I'll keep this to go along with the cover when he is President...
