A Thread to List Your Activism and Your Ideas on Ways You Can Campaign for Bernie

I've listed our successes at the local university handing out Bernie fliers and getting people to sign up to volunteer with us.

We're having a Bernie Bash Pot Luck and Get Together at a local park (free) where, among other things, we're going to make Bernie signs. From there we're going to plan times to gather at major intersections in town with our Bernie signs (making sure that we have a voter registration table) to Get Out the Word about Bernie.

We're going to go to the swap meets with our Bernie t-shirts on and with English and Spanish fliers to hand out to attendants.

We're going to do the same at our Fair.

We're trying to host debate parties but all these damned libruls don't have TV's! (me included) So that's been problematic.

We're planning on having calling parties (the first one is for calling New York).

We're going to be walking our own neighborhoods when it gets close to our primaries to introduce people to Bernie and re-register them to vote if they need to in order to vote for Bernie in the primaries.

Those are off the top of my head and all things that are VERY affordable and in which most people can do.

So . . . fellow DU Bernistas, post what you're doing/planning on doing and post some of your ideas to share with your fellow DUers.

was that they only wanted to target "known Democratic strongholds." I said, "bullshit!" Take a que from the campaign and go into the belly of the beast. GO into the red areas because Bernie CAN get crossover votes.

And thank you for your efforts!

It's your turn to shine. Share what you're doing for the campaign with the rest of us. Posting articles is great but FEET ON THE GROUND is what wins elections.

Then talk up Bernie. Pretty soon they will all be campaigning for Bernie.

Get a hold of independent voter lists and campaign them (if you are in a state where indies can vote on Dem ballots)

If you are in a strict ballot state, sign people up as Dems and make sure the local Dems know how important it is Bernie wins the primary.

Get a booth at Flea markets and show Bernie videos.

Make a good scene in front of local media offices.

At halloween dress up as reagan and scare people. jk.

Unfortunately, they're occupied by Hillary Loyalists. After much complaining I think they broke down and got a Bernie bumper sticker, but it's probably under the desk somewhere.

I guess I'm just more than a little annoyed at the incessant posting of article after article and I'm not seeing a lot of posts about feet on the ground. There are some GREAT activists on this board but not enough, or if they are active they're not posting about it.

Or maybe I just need to take a break away from DU again for awhile because lately it's been buggin the shit outta me. Too many keyboard warriors.

I just joined my group for Bernie, and it's growing daily....

The key thing is jobs and accessibility.

getting together with other activists, all working toward the same goal, sharing ideas. It just makes you want to go out and do even more. Our Red area of California currently has 10 events within 100 mile radius.

Getting volunteers to help with calling them to mobilize them for Sanders. These are older voters, many of whom are not as plugged into social media as Millennials, who are self-organizing that way very effectively already. People will be able to submit affidavits instead of actually going to caucuses (presuming they don't want to be delegates), and we are putting together a plan to collect these and make sure they get to the state party in time.

We have almost 250 volunteers that have filled out our own volunteer form (I am still trying to figure out how to get them to Bernie without having to input any that are duplicates that he may already have).

I and a crew of two-three helpers have been tabling since mid July at our local farmers market, with home made silk-screened t-shirts that have Bernie on them (made by a friend) that are mostly given away or given for a small donation. We pass out flyers and sign up volunteers. I am having people from ages 14-77 ask to help out, many saying this is their first time helping on a campaign!

There is a gentleman in his 70's that has been registering voters at the market for the past 10 years and he is tickled pink at the recent increase in people registering to vote (because of Bernie) that we send his way.

We had a sign making event in our City Plaza on a Friday night and then on Bernie's Birthday strolled through town, passing out flyers on the way. This merited a full page story in our local News & Review, circulation 40,000. We plan to do more sign waving on a weekly basis starting next week during commute hour. We will have signs with our facebook group name and signs about the Debate Party and signs that say register to VOTE.

I and others have been tabling at our local co-op a couple of days a week for about the last month and recruiting more volunteers.

Yesterday I tabled at our local September 16th Festival (Mexican Independence Day) with flyers in Spanish and English. I found many attendees were already Bernie supporters! I had bilingual folks helping all day. It was slow, so I ended up passing out flyers and chatting with the folks that were watching the entertainment. Also got to participate in a few Zumba dances despite the heat!

We are holding our first voter registration/canvassing training Thursday night and will hit the streets starting this weekend. Hopefully we will get at least 20 people attending and then they in turn can train another 5-10 people. We will be starting out with high density, low income housing and hitting EVERY household, taking notes such as B-Bernie, R-republican, ND-not decided, BD-big dog, NH-not home. We will NOT be leaving flyers on doorsteps, we will hand deliver personally. We will each also have volunteer forms that can be filled out on the spot. We will not use regular precinct lists, but will just list street name and address and survey results. We will go in teams.

We are holding a debate watching party at a local sports/burger restaurant, all ages welcome. They said we could change tvs to the debate as long as the A's or Giants were not in the play-offs!

We are thinking of holding a non-alcohol Volunteer appreciation/Halloween Costume Party at our local Grange. All ages welcome.

And somewhere in there we will set up phone banking parties for the early primary states.

We also plan to print out strips of paper with: our facebook group name, feelthebern dot org, isidewith dotcom, map.berniesanders dotcom and the facebook name of our student Bernie groups (2 high schools and both colleges) each school already has their own group and facebook page

And today I am resting after I get more events listed on Bernie's website.

I am also looking for suggestions for activities that are newsworthy, to get more local Bernie coverage.
